"Outstanding" PUPPY FOOD!

Post by Keystone Kid »

After doing a considerable amount of research, I just switched from Purina Pro Plan-Chicken Based 28/18 to Black Gold “Signature Series” Ultimate Puppy 32/21.
http://blackgolddogfood.com/ultpup.htm

Black Gold is using “Human Grade” #1 Ingredients in Ultimate Puppy 32/21. The list of ingredients, along with being “top of the line” ingredients makes this food “from what I’ve seen the best on the market today”.

Anyone else using Black Gold’s “Signature Series” Line of foods?

I’m wondering how long their signature series has been out, anyone know?

Jack you still saving that grease you scraped off that rock

I like their signature series puppy feed, been feeding for a while and seems to keep them in great health, yeah is a little costly but figure the pups are worth the extra to start them out right.

This is just my opinion but, I think that its very important to feed puppies a high Quality food. I don't neccesarily mean high protein or fat but, high in good ingredients. Lean meat, No fillers! Not only will you perhaps keep them from reaching their full potential in height but, it will affect every organ in their bodies not getting good nutrition from a young age.

I'm not crazy about dog food that is 32% protein for puppies. This can affect the growthrate of their bones and soft tissue.

Being an AKC judge since 1990 I understand about “going over”. But the simple fact is if you aren’t allowing your dogs to grow to their full potential, they're being “malnourished/deprived of necessary vitamins & minerals” needed for their “whole body to develop”(not just their height).

Depriving them of good food can cause many future health issues to develop. Too many beagles are dying at way to early of an age. Small breeds like beagles should live to be 14+ years old if cared for appropriately.

To much “hanky panky” has been going on in the breed of the “registered beagle”. Fact is, beagles aren’t supposed to be over 15” for a reason. Registries like AKC are cracking down on “crooked breeders” by making DNA Testing mandatory for certain stud dogs.

This is all for now on “going over”. I don’t want to take this topic “off topic” any further.

It was a joke  They get Puppy chow, but im thinking about the Pride Puppy food.

I started feeding Pride green bag 26/18 to my adults when Black Gold started trying to RAPE me. They tried to go up over $2 per bag at one time. I buy a pallet at a time. The Pride feed seems to be OK, but when I really get to put some running on them in cool weather the truth will show.

Anybody tried the Pride 30/20 growth?

Stick to Purina, Ive tried the pride, didn't like it. They growed good, if you got alot of worm medicine!
If your hounds aren't Fast-n-Furious! They might as well be barking up a Tree!

A Field Trial judge? Or a Conformation judge?
I didnt see your name anywhere in the conformation judges list???
If So What Shows have you judges At?
Just Curious!!!!

We always Feed the Purina Puppy Chow have tried a few others and just didnt like what it did as far as the moms Go.
We feed the puppy Chow to the mom until the pups are fully Wiened then feed them the Purina Puppy Chow
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be

I only judge performance events, SPO & GDB. I really don't care for the GDB formate.

I attended my first AKC Rules Seminar for Small Pack Option field trials on February 24-25, 1990. The host organization was the Mid-West Beagle Gundog Association and host club was the Mid-Michigan Beagle Club. The instructor was George Pirman.

My most recent seminar is listed and on file with AKC. The date was February 24, 2004. My AKC License #37791. Here’s a link to find judges: http://www.akc.org/judges_directory/
