Rabbit hunter or runner
I was wondering who actualy hunts and who just runs for the fun of it. If you hunt how many rabbits do you harvest a year and do you do it in your state or do you travel? If you run for the fun of it do you travel or just run at home?
I don't eat that many rabbits so most of my running is conditioning for field trials. I do shoot some rabbits over the hounds as I think this is important for the hounds, but my joy is trialing. I will be traveling almost every weekend this fall doing so.
I must admit though, there is nothing like a few buddies getting together for a good rabbit hunt.

shootin or runnin
I mostly run but do occasionally drop the hammer. We may do a little more shooting this year since my boys will be with me after they complete hunters safety. Can't wait.

I love hunting. Run the year round to get them ready for Mid November. We hunt mostly in North Carolina on Saturdays. We killed about 80 rabbits last year hunting mostly with 3 gunners and 8 dogs. We only shoot after a loop. The killing is not the most important thing. I go home smiling if we just have some good long runs and only kill 1 or 2.

I run year round and hunt during the season. I don't have anything against trialing, it's just not my thing. I only kill as many rabbits as I want to eat plus some for the landowners who let me hunt and some oldtimers that can't get out there and hunt anymore. Just like A Kerr said "killing isn't the most important part". I agree. A good run is a natural high for me!

I like to do both. I don't really like to eat a lot of rabbits, but I will fill someone's freezer if they want them. I mostly run dogs for conditioning and training purposes. I don't trial, however this year I may start that again. I will be hunting in MO this year (I am moving in a week) and will make at least one trip to Wis for hare.
