I know which one I'm selling last too...I am in love with the boy on the far right below! His face is second from right on the top and looks 100X better in real life. They all do. But these are the only good pix I got of the boys from my Lanbur Curly Joe X Lanbur Honey litter.

I bought the runt from a good friend, He likes a 15" beagle told me she would she be 13 1/2 to 14" if I was lucky. Belle is a full 15" and gives the pack a run for their money. Our last litter has a runt that you couldn't get us to part with for nothing she's a hellion, keeping everyone else in line.

I think some of us are using the term "runt" wrongly. Since hound size in a litter can vary from 12-16" when adult, a small pup in the litter may be just perfect for the size he's programed to be as adult, (13 or <) , but his bigger brothers are also perfect for the size they'll be when grown (13 or >).
A "runt" is usually defined as a unusually small, weak/sickly pup, dwarfish or weedy boned, nothing you'd want to keep or breed from for hunting.

I had one we named "Purdy", she would've wound up in the drink had my daughter not got to her first. She coddled her and dressed her up in her babydoll's clothes and so the fixture became set. The "little weed" started and would run a rabbit with the rest, but never developed the constitution to hold up, tho her big heart never knew she was so small and frail.
When she grew out of the babydoll clothes, she somewhat grew out of my daughter's heart and became another hound in the kennel.
One day a friend came to pick up some pups and brought along an elderly friend for the ride. The elderly gentleman got his eye caught by the "little weed" in the pen with the others and asked about her. I told him to put her in his pocket and we'd call it even, but he said, he had no place for hounds and then they left. Well, some time later my friend returned to get a couple more hounds and I ask him, how his friend was doing. He said, he was fine and really enjoyed running the pups together and wished he had the place for one. Well, I told him the "little weed" needed a home and was going, so he'd best take her along as bedding for the others and see what "Cotton" had to say.
Well, the report I got back was, the two were a perfect match and if the "weed" had given the fellow pleasure, it was felt in return I'm sure... ... sometimes fate makes a funny turn on you every once in a while...

Patch by you're definition of "runt" Mine evedentally is just a small beagle beacause it's as normal as my other pups just a considerable amount smaller. It looks just like the lil fellow that's in bev's pics posted above hope she turns out like bev's cause that willy"the runt" Is a good looking hound imo.

I use the term as smallest or notably smaller then the rest. I can't find anywhere that relates runt to sickly?

Me too! I love them! Moe was my first pick right off although not for AKC conformation -- looks need to be more cookie cutter (type) in that venue.

Thanks, Mason! Thanks, Cindy! Thanks Taylor! Good thing I bred them for the conformation to run the snot out of critters and not for the cookie jar, eh? Shameless brag here, but a 10-month-old hangin' for 4+ hours with a pack of seasoned fox beagles, and getting enough score to place 10th is not too shabby. I'm hoping the rest do well on whatever game they're trained on, but I know there are always some who won't cut the muster.
