Elliot,

Thanks for the pictures. Yes I would like to see more about the trigger. There are few places I would like to catch some rabbits.

Thanks again,

Kevin

Step 1: Rest the trap on the first stick
Image
Step 2: Put stick two in notch that goes all the way to the floor of the trap. seen better in step 3 below
Image
Step 3: Put the two notches on step two piece of wood and then the back notch on step one's piece of wood with apple on end.

Shown better with all the notches, the top of the figure four is what goes on the top of the trap. The up and down piece is what goes on the floor of the trap. If it don't make since to you I'll try to show better photos and better direction.

 something else that might help is to notch out a place for your trigger to rest in on the bottom piece of plywood, this will help keep the trigger from spinning if the rabbit nudges at it, I missed some rabbits before I figured this out.Hope this will help you.

Nice pics, thanks for the effort

No# 8 hardware cloth should be strong enough for the bottom, just frame it.

No problem B.Trull. Your probably right on the No#8 hardware cloth being strong enough. I have a question for you tho. Is that you in your avatar picking up that huge rock? If it is, it must be nice to have some size to yourself. I didn't get blessed with any size at all. It sucks to be a little guy!! I did however get blessed with quickness tho. It makes me feel a little better knowing that I can atleast have a chance of getting away from you big fellows.

I use number 8 hardware cloth on my beehives for a floor, and I have dropped the hive body on it and not tore it. I would'nt think a rabbit would be able to.

oh that is me lifting a number 3 atlas stone, 265lbs , after an weightlifting meet, last november. Paz's wife took the pic.

Got a tee shirt out of the deal ---

I built this one the other night. Going to set it tonight and see how it does. The trigger might need a little more work.

Thanks Elliot. I'll give it a whirl. Do you sharpen the end of the "trigger" stick and poke the bait on it?

Yep just stick it on the end. We put a nail in the end of my buddies and it worked also.

Yep sure do! m&m_kennels where abouts are you at in ohio? Personaly I think that style of tap is a pain in the but to make. It's much easier to make the one in my second photo. Either one works. The only reason I had the one you build M&M was because someone elso gave it to me.

About a mile outside of Martinsburg. I didn't think it was too bad really. Just figure out what your bottom out side dimension is going to be and cut 6, subtract 3" and cut 4, subtract 3" cut 4..........and so on till you are done. I had a much harder time on the trigger than the trap itself. I bought extra material and will probably build some extras and might sell them. A good power miter saw is the ticket.

I built one sorta like the one Iron built out of Chicken wire and I think it is working quite well.. I'm using the same trigger mechanism as the pyramid trap. It seems to me like the Chicken wire method would be a lot easier and cheaper to build than the true pyramid, so my question is What are the benefits in the Pyramid style? I'm not knocking the pyramid style at all, I was just wondering if I need a true pyramid...

Not sure. they really don't cost much at all to build you just have to do it all off a picture because i could not find any dimensioned drawings any where on the net. I just liked the way they looked so thats what i built.

The only advantage i can see is instead of the rabbit smashing into vertical walls he will take a glancing blow. I might make one of the wire ones also and see if i can tell any different.
