HELP!!!! Kentucky kennel License ? THE RESULTS!
Does anyone in Kentucky know the in's and out's of getting one. I live in Hopkins co. in Madisonville and Monday a new city ordinance 90 is going to be voted on, only allowing 3 outside dogs per household unless you have a licensed kennel. I will be there for the reading to voice my opinion but I'm afraid it will pass. The penalties are pretty stiff and there's even a mention of JAIL time. Can you freaking believe this. I moved to Kentucky and figured it was common for people to have several dogs and nobody gave a rats @ss, heck I was better off in Illinois.
This is where I found the info for the new ordinance.

Thanks for any help or info, and I ain't selling any dogs, I'll either hide them behind privacy fence or I'll be housebreaking a crap load of dogs.

I guess I'm going to have to go up to the courthouse and find out. I've been on the Kentuckygov.com website and have found info on every other county but mine. I just found out about this and I know its going to affect alot of people here in town. After reading it again I see that if your property is .5 acre or larger you can have up to 7 excluding puppies, I'll be measuring tomorrow. Moving to the country isn't an option right now so I'm going to have to figure out something. I'm glad to hear Caddy is doing good and was wondering about the male, have you heard?

There used to be no practical ordinances until the state gov sent down a mandate for each county gov to produce a animal ordinance of their own. Now each city and county must sent one in to the state. Or that is what I have been told. I noticed one posted in our local newspaper last year and it scared me to death. But, once I found out it was mostly paper work unless you become a nusance(sp) with you dogs you okay. Good luck with you local gov.

HERE IN FLEMING CO. KY THE COST IS $6.50 PER DOG UP TO FIVE DOGS THEN IT DROPS TO $5.00 PER DOG WITH NO LIMIT SO FAR. ANY DOG UNDER SIX MONTHS OLD DOES NOT NEED LIS.EVERY COUNTY IS DIFFERENT ON PRICE AND NUMBER OF DOGS FROM WHAT I SEE.HERE IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE STATE ITS NOT INFORCED BECAUSE THERE ARE STRAY DOGS EVERY WHERE AND THE DOG WARDENS WILL NOT PICK UP A DOG UNLESS ITS TIED UP FOR THEM IF THEY SHOW UP AT ALL.THE STATE TURNED THIS OVER TO EACH COUNTY ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO.

Again, another example of Huname Society driven bills.
Assuming you can't win this batttle regarding the number of dogs as you say I would really fight for an amendment stating only govermental agencies can enforce laws. The Humane Society is probably a non-profit and not a police force and has no right to tresspass on your property without your permission. They may advise the police and request action but they should not have power to enforce laws. Next they will be sending you letters suggesting how much to feed your animals and the approved brands of dog food you can use.
Good Luck.

Politicians & Diapers both need to be changed on cue, and for the same reasons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the ordinance passed unanimously! I called the city clerk and found out because of where I'm located at they won't issue a kennel license. They tell me I'm not zoned for that type of business. I told them I don't have a business but just keep some beagles for recreational use, doesn't matter. Off the record she told me if their out of site and nobody complains not to worry about it, go figure. This ordinance is intended to weed out all the idiots raising fighting dogs in town and letting them run loose. Unfortunately I and several others will be caught up in it. I say the hell with them, I'm keeping what I've got and might buy some more.

I like your spirit. Man should have natural rights and if he treats his animals good I say to Hell with Big Brother.
Just like they want you to get a conceal carry permit in Ohio to carry a firearm. If I feel the need I will carry anywhere, anytime I feel I have the need - Period!
