Need Help/ Pup, Pregnant Bitch

I have a pup that I is giving me fits. It has the worst diarihia I have seen. She will have for a day or two then she will be fine for two or three days and then its back again. She is wormed regularly, no sign of them either, plenty of energy, good coat, maintains good weight. She is fed Diamond like all of my other dogs, they do not have this problem. She does chew on the treated lumber, could that cause it. Also I have a pregnant bitch that is due around the 22nd of june, at the first of the month it is time for her heart worm meds (ivomec), wormer, and flea meds. Should I give these to her or do you think it will harm the pups?

How old is your puppy? Does the stool have some mucus and blood? My first thought is coccidia. What type of medicine are you giving the PG bitch? Is it all in one?

Yes it does matter what you give your dog when they are pregnant for instance normallyI give Canimax for heart worms but after breeding the dog I give her Inceptor. On flea and tick application I normally give Hartz Advance Care but after breeding I use Frontline because it is safe to use for pregnant dogs cost a little more but never caused any problems. Do not give 7 to 1 shot while pregnant I gave shot one time to pregnant dog and one of the puppies had cleft lip and they said that was the cause of it.

Sounds exactly like a bout of coccidiosis we just had here ...

Dunno how old yer pup is but if yer givin it any cows milk, that will cause bad runs in some pups. Good luck... CHH

The pup is 7 months old. She did have blood in her stool at first, but not now. She also makes a terrible snorting sound thru her nose not all the time just occasionally. Is there a shot for coccidiosis, or will it run its course, and will my other dogs get it, they are in separate kennels. I give safeguard for goats, and ivemec for heartworms. Thanks for all the info sounds like the problem is getting narrowed down.

go to the pet store get it some diarreah medicine it might have an intestinal bacteria also benebac gel works or standard human diarreah med ,also the treated lumber is poisinous ,fasteddy

You need albon for coccidia. (sulfadimethoxine) You should probably take a stool sample to the vet. It can run its coarse but, it can also make them very sick.

I agree with Leah (what's new, lol).
Take a stool sample to your vet (tell them you don't want to bring the puppy in for fear of spreading the problem) and ask for the Albon. STAT!
Honestly I don't give my pregnant bitches ANYTHING. They say Ivomec is fine but considering I give Ivomec monthly yearround I figure they can miss two or three doses. I do give it when they are nursing.
We don't have a big flea issue here and so far the ticks haven't been too bad so I've been holding off on that stuff with my bred & possibly bred girls.

Treated lumber can have some harsh chemicals in them. The first thing I would do is stop them from chewing on it. The only treated wood on my kennel is the frame that they can't get to. Danny

Is the pup a poop eater? I have a couple of females that are and I was sure they had cocidiosis or giardia. I treated with flagyl, corid, albon, safeguard, valbazen, and nothing gave lasting results. A guy told me to watch for stool eating and he was right! WhenI can keep them from doing it for a couple of days, their stools will become perfectly normal! Unfortunately, I owe, I owe, so off to work I go (LOL!) and come home to a greasy, mushy mess to clean up! I am going to try forbid and see if that helps!

I have heard that canned pumpkin. Solid pack not the kind with spice works. Just add a tablespoon to their food. Might work ;-)

Took her to the vet today vet said no worms, coccidia, or giardia, blood work looked fine he said. He said it is probally an allergy, but would have to do some more testing.
