Keep him in the box until you find deer to turn loose on then after a few barks shock him at maximum power most of the way back to the box .
I would think most dogs could be broke but I may be wrong .

I've had Beagles for about 15 years, and have only had one that I could not break from running deer. Just like the earlier posting said, make sure he's running one, and then hit him on the highest power your collar has. I've had a few that I had to shock all the way back to my feet if they were really stubborn. If you can, get them on a rabbit asap after you shock them on deer. The more they get away with running them though, the harder it becomes to break them!
There are people that have deer farms. Go find one close to you and ask if you can put your dog in there fenced in area and tell them why. They may or may not let you. But, put it in there and shock the heck out of him until he is not interested in the deer. Then take him home and get him on a rabbit. Take him back to the deer farm the next day and see what he does. There are people in MI that do this for $20 a dog. Their deer are used to the dogs and will charge the dogs and he has the dog chained to a fence so he can't get away. When the deer charge, he lets the dog have it. It isn't pretty to watch, but it does break them of deer running.
Best of luck,
Emery

It's rare that you can't break one.
I've only seen a few that wouldn't, most of those didn't start running deer until they got older.
You need a truth teller dog to run with him.
A dog that will come back to you if another dog takes a deer.
As soon as you hear the race and see the one coming back.
Lay the others down.
When they get back, love on them, pet them, and go back to everything normal and try to find a rabbit.
You can't bump them off deer, you have to make them break dance and scream. I have tried to take it easy on dogs, and it just causes them more pain in the future. The last couple I have really laid it to, deer broke quickly. They figured they didn't like deer if running them hurt that much.
8 months old is about the right age for a deer chase.

this works for most but i had an exception. had one female that i did this to and it only took her 2 treatments and she would turn one down when i turned her out on it. this was in the summer. opening day rolled around and guess what she did. i was waiting on a woods edge and the dogs were in hunting and this female opened. before long i could tell what she was running. going in a straight line as fast as she could go with no checks. so i made it to the top of a hill where i could see and i see a deer running and this female not to far behind. long story short i ended up selling this dog. this method will work but it may not work for every dog. ive broke some like this and ive also had one i couldnt break like this..........keith

At 8 months, he shouldn't be a problem to break. I'm assuming he knows what he should/shouldn't be running so hit him hard. I use 5 or 6 and hold it down for 3-4 seconds depeding on the dog and conditions.

deer breaking
We have a park that guys use to break dogs. They drive through the park at day light and will see a deer. As it runs off mark the trail the deer ran. Drive about forty yards past the spot and turn the dog loose. I have watched them put the dog on a very long lead and just turn them loose. The guy I watched gave the dog 5 on 5 as he called it. Turned the shocker on 5 and counted for five.
Its great if you can take the dog to a field loaded with rabbits as soon as you are done. He repeats this for three days. Most dogs get it the first time.
Good Luck

Keep running him, preferrably with a tattle tale dog. Make him pay if he runs one. No bumping, Fry him hard. I hold mine down until it times out. I have broken over 20 dogs off of deer in the past 3 or 4 years. The key is to not let them get away with it, and make them pay dearly when they do run one.

I think we have more problems now a-days more than the old timers. In my area we have so many deer, every brush paile or thicket has deer. I have tried correcting them, but the best fix is the shock collar in my oppinion, for what that is worth. I have not had one yet that will take a full shock, not saying there is not one. I start a the lowest setting and then work my way up. I have not seen any take over a three setting on a classic 70 yet. Do not give any verbal commands when you correct the dog. You do not want to pair you up with the correction at all, or you cannot strive to accomplish a broke dog. I have had dogs that will run a deer in a heartbeat, my experience there are your better dogs in the long run. I still lways run shockers on them, even though I have not had a deer race in years. In order to train a resp-onse in a dog you mhave to pair it with something, IE: (sit) you dont teach a dog to sit, it already knows how to sit, you just pair up the sit command with it. In return getting a conditioned response. Good luck on the deer running. Lots of persons have a way to break deer runners, use what wioks for you, for there is know black and white in dog (learning) training.

i have one that i didnt think id ever get to stop. he would run anything that would run from him but he was a rabbit dog. I shocked the crap out of him on high all the way back to me but he took his medicine and never missed a beat, would get back to me and go right into the next briar patch. hunts like a demon, good foot with line and great big chop mouth. to say the least i was bound and determined he would be broke. all last spring took him thru gun season didnt have the first off game race.
have no mercy when you know it is a deer. shock him all the way back to you. and be consistent with your training.
