Silky Girl

Post by Steve C. »

FC WW Silky Girl is owned by Norry Alves from the Paskamansett Beagle Club in Massachusetts. I've run against her and judged her and always really liked this hound. She took a while getting her wins because she was a very clean running hound who didn't gamble and run off the end or cheat to the front of the pack. Despite that, she could get up where the action was and some judges appreciated her talent and she DID finish. Norry's had a lot of good dogs but I think Silky is the one I liked best. I don't recall who her sire was but it may have been Murdoch or Pac Man, both off IFC Round Pond Mr. T. I don't know the Jeff dog.

FC WW's Silky Girl was a heck of hound to watch run in LPH. I still remember judging her as a pup in LPH and a big pack of hounds on snow that featured four or five field champions. She took NBQ at about 12 months of age and Norry came up to me and said, "well what'd she do wrong?" and I said nothing, she did a real nice job just got beat...you'll do something with her no doubt. What the heck did I know I was only a 15 year old kid. About 6 months later I judged a derby class at Northampton Russell it was a class over 15 but under 20, and that's probably the only detail that I don't remember about this trial. Undoubtedly one of the better trials I remember judging...if not the best. Easthampton Beagle Club was scarce for game and we jumped one hare and ran that for 2 hours came back with 7 dogs after the cut and ran them down to 5. These five are now FC Carreau's Sea Side Jenny, Cast and Blast Dixie, Sweet Water Tootsie Roll, Fld Wnr. Rowdy Butch, and FC WW's Silky Girl.

She can get a little rough, but Silky is the kind of dog that is just there, all the time. She is by a dog name Blue Maxx out of Norry's FC Cross Road's Miss Vicky(who was quite the hound in her own right.
