I think the fella that said, ARHA/NkC should pick there own judges for the big trials has the best idea. Lets say you have a protest, or don't sign the score card. You take it back to the master of hounds like you should. ARHA Rules states in just about every protest you can think of (JUDGES DISCRETION). That means 99.9 % of the time, if you home cook, you can serve a full corse meal. Sounds like the judges did good down there, but NKC could make it better. Fair is Fair. Judge the dog not the handlers and may the best dog win.
We have shown quarter horses for many years. American Quarter Horse Association started telling clubs they had to hire a judge from several hundred miles away to help the buddy judging problems. The bottom line is as long as you have a human element involved its going to happen. Either get in or get out but quit whining. Ill be honest i once drove from Louisville to Columbus Ohio because i was sure the fellow judging there like my horse therefor i could get points possibly toward her championship. So what others do it..If you dont like it get out, but quit whining..shoot become a judge..
A couple years ago we had a local south Ind. fellow who started going to some trials. He bought some nice dogs and placed often however when he didnt place most of the time he was accusing judges of all sorts of screw ups. Personally i got tired of hearing it. There was no way he could be having fun. Thank goodness he has quit and sold everything at least for the time being. I think you need the right attitude in that as long as people have opinions plus involvment we will have difference of opinions. Im not saying you should turn your head by no means but keep in mind it happens so deal with it or Quit. The thing is it keeps getting bigger so most seem to handle it. How about ..DOG UP AND DEAL WITH IT.
Did Kentucky bring back all the gold?
SOME PEOPLE NEVER GET BEAT
Thanks to all the good judges I judged with and to all the good judges that judged my hounds. I felt like I got what I got. I can't ask for anything more. I had a super time.
Way to go Jimmy and Kenneth Darrell. Both nice hounds, but thats the way it should be.
Way to go Mark and Missy in the opens.
That droopy ears sure must be tough to beat. Where is she from?

Desire and the abilities to account for the rabbit.

Congrats to all the winners.
Droopy is certainly a tough little dog! Her littermate (Betty) placed in the Champs. Good bloodline to say the least. Both dogs can leave the pack and check them to death with big running.
Here are my whines about this years world hunt:
1.) Its over and we have to wait a full year until the next one!
2.) Another year of listening to Vansickle talking about the should'a, would'a, could'a!

Hatfield is right, some people are very kennel blind. Is it not a shame to drive 4 hours to a club and get a home cooked meal served up for you? Are people saying it really don't happen. I did stop running in NKC/ARHA because of that matter alone. The only place I ran in was Kentucky. Why because it was close. Not every person or every club in kentucky was bad. You are going to have unhonest people where ever you go. It would be nice to get back into ARHA but I will not donate my money to a home cooking club. I wish some one would tell me some good, honest NKC clubs to go to and I would show up. MY DOG DOES NOT HAVE TO WIN. Just giving an honest shake. Please don't read this wrong. I am not trying to make anyone mad. I would like to see NKC be big and stay big. You have people that just go with the flow and people that would like to see things done right, and people who just don't care. I care and that is why I wrote this. Not to make people mad, just for people to step back and really look at the big picture. I am going to my First UKC hunt And Am really excited. Akc is a great format! Not that NKC isn't.

Favortism exists in every organization. I have seem very few casts were there was blatant cheating, and I have seen it in both Ohio and KY from judges in both states.
If you hold your ear to the ground for any amount of time at all, you will hear alot of upset people in AKC as well as other organizations.
On the flip side there are people at the hunts that get good/honest judging and lose, while still thinking they were cheated. Some people cant judge honestly and some people dont think they ever honestly lose. It is a catch 22.
I judged at the world and judged dogs from OH, TN, WV, KY and other states in several casts. We got all the score and scored what we saw, regardless of the handler. Everybody shook hands at the end of the casts and since they were judged fair, knew they got what they deserved.
I judge dogs to the best of my ability because that is how I want my dog judged, regardless of where the judge or handler is from. Rusty Lyons judged my open female and a dog pulled 3 minuses for not producing the rabbit. The handler seemed very upset and when we got back to the club house Rusty asked me if I thought the minuses were good, obvious minuses. I am from Ohio and I think Rusty is from KY, but he did a good job on the cast, and like Rusty, I have respect for those that judge my dogs fair and honest, no matter if I win the cast or get beat, regardless of what state we are from. Most judges are fair and honest, but there is always a bad apple in the bunch.
This is the way everyone should start looking at judging. To do good at a trial you need a good rabbit, a good dog, and a good judge.
Dont forget to thank the good judges out there even when your dog doesnt win. Many times it is not worth the money paid to the judge to go out and get gutted to keep up with your dog and so that scoring is not missed and to bring back the right dog according to the Little Pack rules.

I got an idea, it's new, and would do away with buddy judging, and all the bad mouthing and whining! First, caught rabbits! Second, attach small cameras to their tails! Turn them loose and set back and watch! Who's ever dog is snapping at the rabbits butt the longest, Wins! Who's up for it? Kidding!
If your hounds aren't Fast-n-Furious! They might as well be barking up a Tree!
