Cable is just east of Hayward. Hayward is where they hold the lumberjack competition every year (what you see on ESPN). Look on your map for Hwy 27 and Hwy 63, where they cross... there you will find Hayward and then just go east on 63 from Hayward.

You can get an out of state license for 5 days and that will cost you $55. Cable is a ski town, Telemark is there and if you wait until the snow is almost gone I would bet the hotels are pretty cheap.

mjd,
We try to go every year, if you want to go, the welcome mat is always out.
I don't know what your sickness is, but I would be glad to help get you a hare hunting trip lined up with us, if you want...The cost for hunting and a room is about $250 a week, if you can get here you can ride free...Patch

When do you all usually go up? I'm going to try to go a couple weeks earlier next year (early March). Right now it's 55 degrees during the day and a little over freezing at night, but there's supposed to be rain/snow/ice for the next week!

Your on the East side, I go right up 69, no problem at all. How's a trip to the UP sound? I like Wis. but it's a longer haul, if my buddy don't mind buying another out-of-state license we can do it, it don't matter to me. Emery going to teach me how to hit one of them grouse sometime though so, Wis. is on the agenda...
I like to do a week in Oct. and then another in Dec., stay away from deer gun season... ;)
pm me your number and I'll give you a call.

I always go out I-74W to Bloomington then I-39N to Rockford and then get on I-90 there. Been doing that route for years to Osceola WI, just seems more peaceful. I been wandering about Cable since my brother-in-law's family has place up there. We been going to Phillips and having a blast. There is only open season on hare year round.
