Mine are all trained. Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Here, Up, Load up, Speak, Back up, Kennel, Leave it... as well as a couple tricks each. Labs and beagles both.

Interesting discussion at our house this weekend about beagles and breeding due to one of the topics at this board at the moment. Makes me want to ask a different question. How many of you that have ever gotten into Patch hounds have ever looked back?

Also, when we got our first one. Told the breeder we had never trained a rabbit hound. That breeder told us, you dont need to teach a Patch hound how to hunt rabbits, they are born with it, you just have to fine tune them. Everyone of our patches lit up the first time they ever crossed rabbit sent and started trailing. WE have found his words to be very true. He was a beagle man all his life, but once he went Patch he never looked back.

Hi tiffins,
Those Patch dogs look great. Do you have the ped on your pups? What is the running style of the parents. How tall are they, are tight mouth? Do they have big mouth? I'm going to be breeding this summer, but I want to put a little different blood in my patch.

Thanks
Cedric

Bill, funny that you post the bald eagle beagle website. Our Male Sage is out of Blanches last litter by Jack Pach Brumbragh. So all of his pedigrees are on that site.

My females are both out of Mike Eberle's Hammerenpatch kennel, so my bloodlines are more scattered out. Both of my girls have different sires and dams. Mike goes far and wide for his bloodlines.

Sage is pretty tightmouthed. He will give a yip here and there if he thinks a trail is getting hot, once he opens up, you better get ready to shoot cause he is on it running. The girls bark more, but none of them really waste time barking on cold trails or just to hear themselves bark. One of the guys we hunt with I would like to muzzle. He never shuts up from the time his feet hit the groud.

Hey Bill (flint river),
What direction are you looking to do in you breeding program. My stock came from SPK and JLT stock. I am happy with the speed, mouth and hunt of them. They are tuffer than a cur dog. If mister swamp rabbit is there they will find him. I have been studing my ped and they are bred tight way back. I am not willing to make a half bro/ half sister cross. Not that it is wrong but I have been breed dog since I was young. I know you can get some firecrackers but you also have to cull hard. PM me and I can get my ped for you. What is your stock out of?

Thanks
Cedric

Bill,
Thanks for the information. I have see some of his dogs. My dogs are more leaner and built for running. I did not go over the ped on the Barney dog. His hounds look good. They seem to bigger boned hounds. They had a hound called that they sold some years back named Nero, that looked good. I have a male named Thunder but goes 15.5 so I could not trial him. His pups are doing great and they are 15. Those are the pic the 2 males I posted on Just Talking Dawgs under Patch pups in Texas. I think they would do well up north. Do you only run cottontails?
Thanks
Cedric

Yea Tiffinis, you'd be hard pressed to call either Sage or Dozer big-boned LOL! Haven't measured Dozer but I wouldn't be suprised if he's over 15" too and he only weighs 20 pounds!

Hey Cedric

You know the sire of the three pups I have at my place is Jack Pach Brumbragh. I like how they are looking and their full of energy. My brother has a male of this litter also.
