Yesterday i bought a tube of the safeguard paste for horses, followed the directions found here http://www.geocities.com/pawpawskennels/worms.html
and administered a dose to my 9 month old pup. He weighes 16lbs so i gave him 3 grams which i found to be about 1 complete turn on the dial which put it about the 125 mark.
He was fine the rest of the day yesterday but this morning when i went to feed and water he was holding one of his back legs up like it was hurting him and when he tried to walk he was very uncordinated almost like he was drunk.
Other then that he seems fine...perks up when you call his name etc. and doesn't look sickly but i'm very concerned over this reaction and do not want to give his other 2 doses if this is a reaction from the wormer.
Has anyone ever experienced this? I've searched the forums but haven't found anything that sounds similar.
Any info is greatly appreciated, if he isn't better when i get home from work i'm taking him to the vet but wanted to see if anyone had similar problems before hand.
Thanks in advance,
-Tim

I don't believe the wormer has anything to do with it. I give the safeguard liquid to my pups starting at 3 weeks old and have never had a problem.
Expecting a carjacker or rapist or drug pusher to care that his possession or use of a gun is unlawful is like expecting a terrorist to care that his car bomb is taking up two parking spaces

Thanks for the replies all, I'm not sure what was wrong with him. I called to have my son check on him at 10 am and noon yesterday and all he would do is sit like he still couldn't walk.
I came home at 5pm with all intentions of taking him to the vet and when i went out to get him he was happy and playful like nothing was ever wrong with him so being confident with all the info i've read and the replies i had gotten i was convinced it wasn't the wormer and went ahead and gave him his 2nd dose.
Just came in from checking on him this morning and he's up and about with no issues.
I guess he just had a sore leg from some reason yesterday but he seems to be all better now.
Thanks again for the replies.
Best Regards,
