Bluetick Puppies (Pics Added)
My female had a litter of 8 (5 males 3 fem.) the 26th.She is mostly tri-color but with heavy blue ticking.I bred her to talk about blue jasper,a full bluetick but all her pups seem to be tri-colors.Their noses and paws were completely pink when they were born but are changing very fast.Question is are blueticks born blue or do they get more blue as they get older? I can now fold hair back on some of the puppies and see some gray looking hair underneath but not sure if it will ever amount to much.Never had any doins with any newborn blueticks.

All my blueticks were black and white when they were born. Check and see if their feet look dirty in between their toes. Another thing you can look for is if their skin looks grey or lilac colored where the white is. If the skin is grey or lilac colored, they are going to have blueticking, if it's pink then no. Also check their pads, if their pads are purple or black, they should be blueticks. If their pads are all pink then they are tricolors. The last litter I had I got them all predicted right after they were 4 days old using these methods. Hope this helps.

The pups still can turn blue, usually they will turn blue within two weeks or so, at least mine did. If they are going to. But I had one born bluetick from the start, she ended up the real dark blue. Post some pics if you can, I'd like to see them, are you going to sell any?
If your hounds aren't Fast-n-Furious! They might as well be barking up a Tree!
He hit the nail on the head. Yes, they can def. still turn blue. A lot of pups have no brown/tan on them when they're born but it starts showing up about a week later.huntinfool wrote:All my blueticks were black and white when they were born. I checked the pups real good and from what i've read my prediction is there are only gonna be 3 really blue ones. The others may have some ticking but thats it.I will try to get a pic on here if my camera ever gets here.Dont really think I will be selling any,I really just breed to put rabbit hounds in my kennel.Hope I get some goodns out of this litter!!!
You can sure see the blue coming out in em!!! They are 9 days old today and getting bluer everyday.I cut their back dew claws at 3 days old and gave them all a little tast of nemex 2 today.Just waiting on it to get a bit warmer of a night so I can put them out in the kennel.Cant wait till they are old enough to run!!!

Cute pups. Looks like a couple are def. going to have a lot of blueticking if they look like that at 9 days old
