anyone know what is the upper limit of dosage for amoxicillan for a 25 lb beagle. i have one that is mildly sick for no aparent reason. he lacks appetite and energy. so far he's been getting amox. antibiotic 250mg once a day and a little b-12 and b complex injections. have had to make him some venison/ pasta and his kibble for him to eat. he is getting better, but i dont want to over do it. also gave him drotal + he has had alot of fur in his mouth this season
Your under dosing. 250mg twice a day. When a dog gets sick here or someone has a punture or whatever I start with a bolus of 500mg then go to 250mg twice a day. If you see no improvment in a couple of days I'd get the dog to the vet.
thanks leah, i kinda figured i might be. he is coming along, i will up him to twice a day for awhile. i dont want this one going down, he's probably my best. thanks a bunch, pat
