Visible traits are the easiest to sort through and get what you want, but it's the "unseen" traits and qualities that make a rabbitdawg.
Heart, desire and determination can't be measure on a rule... ;)
Bygolly Boomer, I believe you hound is big allover...

Amen Boomer,
Only one thing burns me up more then someone turning in on my dogs uninvited, and that is some jump shooter , shooting a rabbit off my dogs.

I was running my hound a couple of days ago & and he was having a really hard time so I decided to call it quits. On my way towards the road I heard a couple of hounds barkin' like crazy and went to see what the matter was...Anyways, a few of guys dropped a trio of these [backyard beagles, ya know, the kind that spend 10 solid months on the chain and they were running around barking for no reason]
I went up to one of the guys and asked if he had permission to hunt here and he said that the landowner gave them permission a little while back. I thought this was a little weird since the man was living with his daughter up north for about 3 months now. So I asked if they had written permission and it turns out they didn't have it so I told them they had to get off. Now, if they had written permission then, by all means go for it & have a wonderful time but if not, get off! As I was walking home they drove by and asked if I was interested in a good hound. [they were tryin' to put down my hound]
I've never had a stranger shoot a rabbit over my hound without me knowing but that would REALLY pee ME OFF!

yea patch ive only had captian now for a week when i first went to look at him i was like man look at this over sized thing. the guy i got him froms a real honist guy he was like don't judge him till ya see him go he turned him and 3 of his pups out that day and he would move on has a coonhound mouth on that will raise your neck hair lol. Breed up good to might raise some pups off him latter on ive seen 6 of his offspring and they all have tons of hunt and good looks. People just crack me up thinking that the size matters big dogs or little dogs a good ones a good one period in my book.

If you think that is bad, we showed up at a spot that my buddy had sole permission to hunt, and lo and behold some guys that he took their two years ago were parked and had already turned their dogs out. The worst part about it is they didn't even call him and ask him if he wanted to go. He is a rather religious guy so he didn't say anything, but if it had been my spot I would have gave them a good cussing. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else, but that is the ultimate in lack of hunter courtesy.

Big Dog, now that is just WRONG!! Some people just don't have any respect for anyone or anything. Hope you ended up having a good hunt that day anyway.

E.C.I his name is Goose Creek Captain. i got him from Chris Hayre hes heavy Branko breed and some Indian hills stuff. I think he's going to be a real nice hound when i get him back in shape. Just wish he was 2" shorter lol

JB,

Like you I have a 16" Townline male pup that's 13 months old. My buddies swear he's got hound in him (small minds). On Friday this pup hunted like he was a 12" dog. I could not believe how much he liked getting into the thicket. The 2nd chase of the day was much like the 1st, the cottontail ran big, deep into the forest and out of hearing! When he came back one of my buddies made the connecting shot. Says Brer Rabbit was stretched out giving it all he had. Close behind and leading the pack was this big bluetick pup. Al says he was rolling! Who was it that said size matters? LOL!!!

Kim,

Those guys would have gotten a verbal blessing and they would have been the ones to pick up their hounds. Common courtesy, what ever happened to it? What about loyalty and being ethical?
