opening early/cold trailing

A friend has a young dog that will open early some ,he keeps workin and normally gets the rabbit up.Awesome dog other than this and after a good run he does not do it as bad. he does it in areas wher the rabbits are thin.Any ideas on a corrective action

My best dog does the same thing. The more he's run, the less he does it. I've started bumping him real low and it's helping a little. Frosty days are a killer
