A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
I have thought about that liquid rubber stuff but didn't figure that would be too good for the hound....Will tape stay on all day through the thick stuff?
Chaffin Crank
The Crank's may not have it all together, but when we're together we have it all....
use none of it they will build enough scar tissue that it will not hurt unless you try to mess with it. If you do not like the blood look dip in cold water or peroxide. The dog will perfer the cold water. A bloody tail is not a bad sign but a badge of honor.
My one male bleeds an awful lot, so to try and cut down on the blood loss I wrap the end of his tail with co-flex (a self adhereing stretchable bandage) first and put duct tape over the top of it. Lasts a long time if I get it on right. Don't want it to loose or to tight. (I've seen this type of bandage used in my vets office). It also allows fairly easy removal and doesn't pull any fur off.

This is pretty much the same thing i do w/ one of my males. I get the rap stuff at TSC in the horse section its called VetRap.
Hey Swing just tape his tail to one of his back legs. Might run funny for a couple weeks but once he gets used and past the other dogs making fun of him he'll be fine
If you don't breed for hunt sell you're beagles and buy a POODLE AND SOME PERFUME! GUN DOG'S that's all that matters. The rest will fall in place.
I talked with a Wicks rep today and they are going to make a special tail cover out of samething bibs are made out of.
I will let you all know how it turns out, it is going to strap aound the head of the dog to hold it on.
And I also asked the rep how many teeth a dog had and he says 24, hope that helps Hatfield. LOL
