branko took ann to dingus cause he was the best, then took close call to trimmer because he was the best. the rest is history.

Interesting stories and information in this post.
I am fairly new to the game and have yet to see a dog that is "exactly what I want".

I own a couple good ones, run with some good ones, but I am still looking for a heavy framed, tri-color, saddle back, bawl mouth, that has good confirmation, a ton of hunt, and no running faults. :D

I'll probably die before I find that hound.
Of the ones I have owned and the ones I have run I always think, "I wish I had a dog built like davis, with the conformation of tucker, with the hunt of anny, with a mouth like jackson, smooth and fast on a line like davis, and nose like sally."

I still have a lot of hounds to see before I find what I want. When I do, I will buy it, breed to it, or what ever it takes.

I'm pretty pleased with the bitches that I have, and if I could pick one male to breed them to from any era, I think I would go with Gay Baker.

Also for the record, I don't know anything about Mt. Zion Pete other than what I have read, but AKC brace was not the only game in town back in the 40's and 50's. We all know what happened with AKC brace, but Large Pack trials continued to go strong through this period, or so I've heard. I thought Pete gained his fame in the Large Pack world. I've never heard of him having any impact on Brace.

No offense to John, as I will always defer to the older and wiser. Just respectfully posting what I always thought to be the case.

If my memory serves me Mountaineer Sonny ( out of Mt. Zion Pete ) ended up in NC and I think produced some good early SPO style dogs. Not brace type.
