Pups Chewing On Wood

I have a litter of pups that are very persistent at chewing on wood in their dog boxes. Many years ago I used a hot pepper spray that was designed to help deter horses from chewing on wood. It seamed to help a little with pups chewing problems, but they still did chew the wood. The bad thing is it causes pups to get bowl infections.

I know there is other products on the market like “bitter apple sprays” that are suppose to help deter pups from chewing wood. I just want to see what others experience has been with them.

Does anyone know what work's best for deterring pups from chewing on wood in there boxes?

Put something in the pen that you dont mind them chewing on. Pups are going to chew on something and there isnt anything you can do to stop them.

I have noticed that they wont chew on newly painted wood. After the paint wears off then they start again. I have also had some pups that could not be stoped. I even had one named Termite

I bent aluminum strips on the opening of the dog house just cap the exposed areas off.

When my bunch were all babies we never had to worry much about them starving out there in the field if we lost em for a day or so... They could make a Meal Outta Sticks!!!!!!!!

Paint the area they are chewing with some Tobasco sauce, you will see that it stops immediately. Pouring red pepper into holes where dogs dig will deter them from that habit also.
