if i breed to a male it is for what i see in him not what i see in his sire or grand sire. turbo is branko blood but people bred to turbo for what turbo done not what prop did. Don bred to prop when he couldve bred to 10 other stud dogs at that time. Don made a wise choice and got one hell of a hound. if you had 2 turbo males out of the same litter. 1 has finished a champion in every format and the other is just a all around good gundog who do you breed to? the one that wins. allthough its the same blood you want the proven hound in your pup. turbo is the name of a dog not a blood line. branko is just a name on a dog as well. the blood line has to start with a hound. just because i have my name on two hounds dont mean theyre the same bloodline. when don put talk about on a pup out of ace and talk about on a pup from turbo does that make the talk about bloodline? NO!!!! talk about,indian hills, maravics, branko these are kennel names not bloodlines

what do you mean ive got to be kidding. branko is a kennel name. if you want heli prop in your blood you dont breed to a dog that branko has that doesnt have prop in the peigree do you? i dont look past 3 years on a pedigree. i would call turbo jack of all trades bloodline. i would call a grandpup to turbo, turbo bred. i wouldnt call a grandpup of turbo dingus macrae bred. although his bloodline goes back to dingus. there is so many people crossing this dog with that dog now days and its hard to get what you call a bloodline. mark v ace in the hole went back to indian hills majer on the bottom side how many people thought of ACE as indian hills bloodline.

Agreed. It takes many years to have an established bloodline. I don't think a bloodline is established through one dog with various people breeding different pups to it's (Turbo) offspring from various kennels.
Only the owner of Turbo can establish a new bloodline through Turbo blood similar to what Branko did 30 years ago when he made a few crosses and started his breeding program. This takes a significant kennel operation with linebreeding, limited inbreeding and outcrossing over many years of breeding. Not many lines are established through backyard breeders who breed a few litters every other year or the novice.
I am not saying this is what the owner of Turbo is or was but rather making a blanket statement. For all I know he has 100 beagles and has an intense breeding program and is on his way to establishing a new bloodline. I just haven't read anything that quantifies that.
Go read an article about the Gay dogs Frank Reese started or Willet Randall and his patch hounds. Usually the guys and gals who have started beagle lines have dedicted their entire life to beagles, usually own land with enclosures, spend countless hours selecting pups from their breedings and making the appropriate culls. Many of them could care less about the money end of it and do it out of pure devotion over a lifetime. Every dime they make usually goes right back into their kennel. Beagles are not a high $ dog so it takes love for the breed.

To lump all branko dogs as one blood line would kinda be near sighted, imo.

In the ole days they called it prepotentcy! The sire was prepotent. In genetics we called it linked traits. I taught genetics at OSU. Lets say I have 46 chromosomes and I get 23 from mom and 23 from dad, The fun part is I am not sure what good charachteristics I got from my mom and dad! and if and when I scramble my 46 and pull apart 23 they may be in a different combination then I rcd from my mom and pop, and passed them on to JR..
However prepotency (myth maybe) says that certain animals tend to pass in their (egg or sperm) a "set" ----(linked genes)--of charachteristics to their offspring. Thats why record keeping and watching the dogs hunt... is so important. We all would love to have that Mythologic PRE-Potent stud ..or dam.
