Turbo was a dog. One dog does not make a bloodline. Turbo was not Branko bred although he was of Branko blood. If you are breeding to sons and daughters of Turbo, than you are breeding for his blood but you aren't not breeding to a bloodline. A bloodline is excatly that. A whole lot of dogs with same ancestry and like traits that reproduce said traits. One dog lacks the foundation to be considered a bloodline. In about 10 years when you have dogs 5,6 and more generations removed from turbo and they are constantly spitting out Blueticks that run with the same style, then you will have a Turbo Bloodline.

The pedigree I read on Blue Babe has Sock It as her Sire, It probably is wrong. World pedigrees isnt very reliable.

Regardless the point I was making is about the double standard of giving credit.

Was Babe out of Armandos Lil Conman?

I'll bet less than 10% of all the beagles ever bred in the Good Ole USA have ever been scratched by a briar!!!!!!!!!!

In breeding and starting your own line, its foolish to find a dog back in the pedigree you like and claim that dog is what you are breeding for.

In Props pedigree above, I see at least 17, over half the dogs, are not Branko so the traits and genes passed down by him could just as easily be from Straight Arrow, Otterbrook, Dingus, Bobby, Elms, etc.

This just Turbo's sire side, what about those in the Dam's? Add those different lines and dogs up in both lines to see what all is different in Turbo's lineage. Which one influences Turbo's traits or genes more?

Its wrong to pick one that is yours or others flavor of the day.

Simply go with the dog you like best today and let all its ancestory and genes come with it as a package.

That's why I believe in breeding best to best.

Let your dogs have mixed up names and lines back there, so no one claims your dogs line except you. Then you have your own line as you alone picked those in it by trailts you liked and merit, not papers or big names.

Apparently, Branko agrees with me.

If you were selling me Turbo as a pup for example, I would say out of curiosity "what is this pups lineage" and you would proudly say the sire is Heli-prop and his dam is Elk Creek.

You could also honestly say I choose these two dogs to breed for what I wanted, so this pup Turbo is a result of Danny Vansickle's choices and Danny Vansickle breeding.

Branko understands this simple and old concept and is why he won't claim any pup he didn't choose the breeding on even if both sire and dam came from his kennel.

Its like going to a Church social and having women bring their pies.
Some by looking at the ingredients are obviously pacan pies and that is what everyone calls them.

One though, the one your wife brought is a mixture of pecans, macadamia nuts, walnuts, chocolate, grapes, some white fluffy stuff, probably cream of some kind, and others you can't quite figure out. The folks love it and its the social talk and hit!

When all the women want the receipe, they will come straight to Mrs. Vansickle. There is no question whose pie it is and it will be called Mrs. Vansicles pie forever more in the future.

There are examples of this all around us everyday. Dogs are no different.

The illustration was using Branko's breeding from long ago, but the principles still hold true.

Branko is still going outside Branko dogs to bring in blood to inprove his line. He was a smart breeder way back then and still is today.

His method of achieving successful goals hasn't changed, only the dogs names.

There are many breeders doing the same things, but on a much, much smaller scale that are not well known or known at all as they are doing it for themselves and do not trial or anything that catches the beagle worlds eye.

It's the ones that get hung up on a kennel name and don't give any credit to the other dogs in a pedigree that don't get it!
