Post by danny vansickle »

THIS DISCUSSION CAME UP IN THE TRADING POST THE OTHER DAY,SOME SAY TURBO IS JUST A NAME OF A DOG IN PEDIGREES AND SOME,LIKE MYSELF, REFFER TO TURBO AS A BLOODLINE.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I own a pup that is Line Breed Turbo. What I trying to say is Turbo is a dog that came out of the Branko Blood line. Just like Blue Back is a dog, not a blood line. There is another Blood line that's been around for a while, and that has been the Big Time Blood line. That line has really produce some winners. But I'm just like you, if some one ask me what kind of Blood line is in my kennel, I'll say Turbo, Blue Back, and Paycheck. I could go on and on, about different lines. You brought a very smart question, which should bring up some good debating answers and questions.

I think if the cross was made just one time a while back then it is just a dog. However if there are several crosses of it then I would say then it is a bloodline. But my oppion on Turbo himself is branko bloodline. I could be wrong but this is the way I see it.

Turbo is a great dog with Branko and Elk's Creek blood running through him. I personally do not look at Turbo as an independent bloodline. Bloodlines are usually developed with multiple dog breedings over an extended period of time. The breeding usually includes line breeding with occasional outcrosses to strengthen the line to the style of hound desired. Frank Reese's Gay line, Branko's, and Short's are three fine examples of beagle lines.

Turbo wasnt Branko.
All I ever hear on here is (if it didnt come from Branko and Frieda it aint Branko).
So lets not give Branko credit for a great dog he didnt breed. If he cant be given credit for sorry ones that have way more of his blood in them.

Thank you Mike,,, I have got alot of Turbo blood in my kennel. I have 2 dogs straight out of him, I have 2 grandpups to him and I have a double bred Turbo pup. I think as of right now Turbo may just be a dog in some pedigrees, but a few more years down the road when more people wake up and smell the coffee and start breeding for the blood and line breeding it alittle it will be a bloodline,,, Just my 2 cents

Sorry I still didnt answer the question. I think of Turbo as a dog, but thats just my opinion. I hate to see a (Turbo) female for sale on the trading post and find out it has Turbo 1 time on the 3rd generation.

What I would like to know is what hounds are great producers out of Turbo.

We all know Turbo threw some GREAT dogs and he has 40 some champions in different formats to prove that.

What about Turbos sons and daughters. Do they reproduce like he did????

What Male or female out of Turbo has a PILE of TITLED dogs out there????

AS FAR AS TURBO'S OFFSPRING PRODUCING,I BELIEVE TIME WILL TELL SINCE THERE ARE STILL SONS AND DAUGHTERS BREEDING,BUT HERE ARE A FEW OF HIS KIDS THAT I KNOW OF THAT HAVE PRODUCED CHAMPIONS AND BIG WINNERS:

GREENWELLS REGGIE,A.K.A.SCROGHAMS KY REGGIE
LOUISES BLUE MAN
TALKABOUT BLUE JASPER
POUND THE GROUND BLUE LEVI

I AM SURE THERE ARE A LOT MORE,THESE ARE JUST THE ONES IN MY AREA.TRUE HE MAY NOT BE A "OFFICIAL"BLOODLINE BUT IN TIME I BELIEVE HE WILL.

I understand these hounds have won alot.

GREENWELLS REGGIE,A.K.A.SCROGHAMS KY REGGIE
LOUISES BLUE MAN
TALKABOUT BLUE JASPER
POUND THE GROUND BLUE LEVI

What are the names of some titled dogs out of them. Turbo has been dead for a long time and I am sure there are dogs out of Turbo that are 7 or 8 years old maybe older. Sons and daughters of Turbo have been breed to death. If someone has a Turbo son or daughter I am sure it has pups on the ground. I just want to know what offspring puts WINNERS on the ground. Not 2nd place or 5th place. WINNERS. I would like to know this info for myself. Anyone that can help Thank You.

I'm not into trials, but i do have several third generations, a double breed, and a direct son that are all out of Prop. They have all proved themselves to be solid all around dogs with the speed and intelligent to move a rabbit. Are my third generation dogs field trial champs? No, but i would put them down with any dog around. I like what I’m seeing in these dogs. When i refer to my dogs they are all TURBO breed. I'm giving my credit to the Don, he breed this line and to me this is a cross that has now taken on the right to be considered a blood line. When people are talking about what types of out crosses work well with your cross (Don's Turbo cross), then you have to admit that this is now a genuine blood line..... When you start to get three generations out and only have it on one side you really can’t determine that this dog is dominantly Turbo Breed, but take that back to a Turbo and your right back into the thick of things again.

It’s not a Branko line (he didn't breed it)!

You are seeing TURBO blood lines being breed back to Larsen, Blueback, Boldstroke, Branko, etc.....People are experimenting and trying to spin the next best thing. Doesn’t that sound just like what everyone here is trying to do with dogs directly from these other big bloodlines like Branko, Gay, etc…..?
