Buzzsaw, Where Does He Rank?
Moderators: Pike Ridge Beagles, Aaron Bartlett
I remember back in these pages somewhere that I used the words, and i quote 'Buzzsaw is THE MAN" I'm glad he is finally getting his due. I actually believe that he's not too old to make a mark in AKC if LP wanted to run him in it. I also am quoted as saying that he 's the best kept secret in beagling but thankfully that's not so anymore. I have 2 4-month olds out oF Buzz that have a home for life and I may even consider breeding buzz's daughter backt o him (nah). I see a lot of lghts going on all over the country, now that people are seeing that (another quote from a year or two ago) Buzz is the REAL DEAL! Congrats, Lynn. Campaign him in AKC and bring all the clocks home shining!

I really haven't kept any count of numbers, really never cared, bred as i felt i needed too and he was always availiable to anyone that wanted to use him.Probably used more this past yr then any other time,i can check my records if i need to for you,but i will say this, probably more born from him this year then the last 5 yrs.MGB wrote:A better question might be: How many pups does he have on the ground and what has he produced?
What has he produced?Gundogs period and that is all i ever wanted him to produce, for years what few litters i raised any extra pups from those litters were bought up by "just plain ole rabbit hunters" you know the ones that care less about a trophy and more about a meal of rabbit gravy. No all pups from him have not been the next best thing but as long as his percentage of producing rabbit dogs is high then i'm happy, and trust me his percentage is up there in that dept.
Just recently a few have been getting trialed, besides the hounds i have trialed and placed from him.
15" female derby winner AKC midwest
15" female has a win and likes pts to make UKC champion
15" male little pack champion
15" female little pack champion
Plus hounds with several places in field and bench, hope this gives you an ideal of my hound and thanks for asking the question,i would be intersted in that question if he wasnt my dog also.
One amazing thing i have seen from his reproducing is his grandpups are as much like him if not more then his direct offspring,i would think that would be spreading your gene pool pretty good, wouldn't you?
Where does he rank?My opinion, right up there with the best of the spur hounds, why?not because of any titles or what he has won but for the simple fact he is a gundog deluxe. He has always hunted hard for his rabbit and has ran them when others couldn't,another words he stands accountable for his game.He has been the best i have fed and one of the best companions(friends) i have to date.We have had our trying times and worked thru them,I am proud of him but what i'm most proud of is the day i went looking for a pup to buy,he chose me to be his friend.
Thanks to all that have had an opinion about Buzz both good or bad,and that is just what the question asked for was an opinion.

I owned the 15" AKC Derby Winner. She was the best check dog that I have ever seen! I only sold her because I run 13" females and did not have anything else to run with her. At such a young age she was very good. I have always said Buzz was the man and this female proved it to me. I first saw his pups run a few years ago when Don Smith had a couple out of Buzz and I knew they were for real. If I can get one in a 13" package I would hit the jackpot. I wish you and Buzz the best Lynn!!

Jimbo asked me to post this, here are two littermate grandsons of Ol Buzz. They are out of a Buzz female bred back to Reffett's KY Mtn Black Magic (her uncle) We are definitely seeing a lot of their grandpaws traits in them. They are on their way to making top caliber hounds. I own Phantom and Jimmie owns Ol Nasty, hard to believe it from the way they look that they are full brothers. Nasty has that throwback look to Ol Sampson about him.

re
Wayne, I was wondering why you chose to buy these pups, but I see now you must have done your homework. I didnt know much about ole buzz, except he wins in the trials. I learned my lesson early on about just using trial results as a basis for breeding, or pups. I have had so many wild out of control dogs doing that its not funny. The descriptions above about this hound have really peaked my interest. I would like to see some of his offspring run.

jumpmaster,
i have a female just over a year old you can watch anytime..... harder hunter, good honest mouth, plenty of foot, good control, and works a check nice.... but there is still time to go run with the old man himself also... Lynn wouldn't mind to have you down.... He's a great guy...

JumpMaster,
I emailed Will Mason a couple of pictures of the pups this morning from work. I was in a bit of a hurry in having them took last night as yesterday was another of those 18+ hour days and I had never stood the pups before, but they didn't turn out to bad. (nice looking, friendly and energetic pups) Hopefully Will will post them on the board.
