Stud Hounds in WV
Hi guys I was wondering if anyone knows of a good AKC stud dog around the Charleston, WV area. I am looking for a stud dog with above averege hunt, and Fast Speed. Must be a jump dog and just right on the mouth. I will be breeding mary in the spring if she comes in. Any help would be apprectiated. I raise my beagles to hunt first then I might trial them if I think they are good enough. I have been to 1 ARHA hunt and plan on attending a AKC SPO hunt this fall.
Depends on what you are looking for.
You really need to match the stud's traits to the traits of the gip.
However, you don't want both dogs to have the same faults.
I have seen crosses of two good dogs that didn't work because the dogs were opposites.
What type of dog is the gip?
I wouldn't breed to a dog unless I ran it several times under different conditions.
There are plenty of good dogs in our area, just need to find the one that will match your gip.

Bub Milam has a nice male (GRCH GRHBCH Milams Loko Go Red). He throws what your looking for. He's in Craigsville WV.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".

My female has extreme hunt. She has fast speed. She has no skirting or cheating. She is tight on the line. I am looking for a male that is atleast 14 inches. I am not looking for a check hound. Just or the record also I am a rookie. I have alot to learn and I am sure I will make some mistakes. I have had quit a few responses to this add and I appreciate the help. I mainly ask the question because I am not in the loop when it comes to good dogs in my area. I am interested in breeding to Brankos Mystery Man and Eddie williams has been helpful with my questions on him. I just wanted to explore all options will I have time. She probably will not come in season until around March or April. I do not trial alot but I do have some interest. I simply want to breed for hunt. I enjoy running year round. While the dogs are learning I have been learning. Thanks,
Danny

Danny their are a lot of good dogs in your area and I'm in the same boat as you. I have a couple of females here that are kind of small and am looking for a smaller dog to breed to. I'll be looking for the right stud to breed them to this summer. I want to hunt with the dog that I breed them to in a brace style to see how they compliment each other. I like a dog that when they are put on the ground they are looking for the brush, when the track is up they can run it with autorioty and line control. Take your time and make sure its the right dog, not because it has a bunch of titles, but because its what you saw out the two of them.
To old to cut the mustard, you can always run beagles
Are you coming to ARHA trial in Ripley on Nov. 5?
If so I can show you a few dogs in casts, and possibly run after the trial.
I don't figure it will be a big hunt since it is the day after the opening day of rabbit season.
I will be there, but I don't know if I'll have any dogs left after hunting Saturday. I know I'll bring at least one, even if her eyes are swollen from the day before.

FC DEATON’S BO

MWBGA 2000 Overall High Hound - MWBGA 2000 High 13” male
Wins in 3 different states - 127 total points
FC Deaton’s Bo stud fee: $100 or pick of the litter. Negative Brucellosis test required. Return in case of miss.
Bo is an outstanding beagle that has always been trash proof and will burn a rabbit up. He is a run-to-catch type hound that is all business and will quickly circle a rabbit to the gun. Bo is one of those rare AKC Field Champions whose conformation has not been bred out of him.
Bo is a line bred Branko, grandson of Ali-Baba, official measured 12 ½” muscular little male that has a heart the size of a #10 washtub. He has the foot to run with the best and likes the clean air up front, yet has the brains to gear it down when necessary. He’s a hard hunting, hard hitting, and clean line running dog with endless hunt, stamina, and bottom which give him unparalleled endurance. Bo is an exceptional jump dog w/ excellent line control and explodes from a check w/ a squall mouth to lead the pack with little cold trailing or babbling.
He is built strong with the conformation that allows him to run all day. One only has to look at his chest to see that it is deep and that the ribs are well sprung giving him the lungpower to carry the day. If you’re looking for a stud that can win on the bench, field, or just need a little more foot in your rabbit dogs, you should consider Bo. He’s a leader and his pups are showing that same ability when placed with other pups of different breeding in the starting pen. They start young and have the natural ability to know they are rabbit dogs at a very early age.
Bo was featured on the cover of Better Beagling (Sept. 2001) as the Mid-West Beagle Gundog Assoc. 2000 Overall High Hound and 13” High Hound in Mid-West SPO. Bo has nothing to hide. I invite you to come watch Bo run and you will be satisfied he is the 13” male to breed to. A look at his pedigree shows he is bred to produce. Bo is located in VA, for more info, contact Steve Boardman at (703) 989-4079 or FCDeatonsBo@hotmail.com or visit us on the web at http://www.FCDeatonsBo.com
