I'm not a vet and don't play one on TeeVee but, I would say that 7 months is VERY young for testicular cancer. Get him in for a looksee at your vets office. If it were that the cure is easy.. remove those things!!

Have both testicles descended? Does he have a pair or just one in the sack?

At 7 months dog are just reaching sexual maturity and the testicles are just dropping into place (or just dropped).
You can feel, and sometimes see the testicle that didn't drop beside the penis when the dog is rolled onto his back.

Does this describe the lump your dog has?

It is not uncommon for only one to drop.
It will not hurt the dog at all and he will still be able to reproduce.

I have an 11 yr house dog that only has one and he is fit and healthy. I had a beagle that had the same problem with no problems, he died young from other causes.

A dog should have both testicles much younger than 7 mo. My puppies have both in the sac by 8 weeks and if they don't have 2 that I can easily find by 4 months I'm darn worried. At 7 months if this dog only has 1 he isn't going to get the other.

Are you feeling a hard lump directly ON the testicle or scrotum or is it up on the penis?

He has both testicles. It is directly on. I thought it was kinda young too but the spot which i pretty big compared to the testicle, is harder then the rest. Man I really dont want to cut them but if I have to thats what Ill do. I see the vet at the end of the month

Can you run him in this week? I really would just incase it was something aggressive and also to set your mind at ease. I found this on the internet about testicle tumors in dogs http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... icleid=481

best of luck,

Well, maybe they can leave him one?? There is always the option of freezing semen which isn't terribly expensive.

good luck with him.
