My New dog caught a rabbit

Post by indian_creek_beagler »

Me and my dad went running this evening, we took three dogs. One of them happened to be my new weircreek male. They had jumped two and circled them to different holes. and then our old female lady jumped the third one. It took up over the hill with the dogs in hot pursuit, it circled around a sink hole, and was runninig down a small mowed path, my dad got up there in time to see what happened unfold. The rabbit ran down the path and sat down on the edge, as the dogs came very close to him he jumped up to take off, trying to pull a double, and he let the dogs get a little to close to him, and rooster my new male nabbed it, knocked it down, and they were all on it in a flash. Dad ran up towards them yelling they caught it. I couldnt believe it until i saw the dogs on the rabbit. We picked it up and looked at it and it was a 3/4 grown healthy rabbit. We praised the dogs, snapped the leads on them, and preceeded to come home to clean the dogs kill. I was very proud of them especially rooster.

No jeff it isnt chip. its a new dog i bought my son, he is only 14 months old and is really looking good for his age. he can only get better. he is actually half weircreek with the other half being stubby and bb banker (ike and spike) breeding. i have his half sister here also and for a 10 month old pup, she has more hunt and hustle then any ive had except one in the last 10 years. we got a pedigree on chip, nothing really stands out but he has some old hatchie breeding in him from down there in tennessee.

Theres alot of guys who have never hunted there for some reason and i dont know what it is!! ive been to a bunch of different public places to hunt, glendale, hillenbrand, crosely, minnehaha, muscatutuck and this year i may hit sugar ridge. glendale is far the best public hunting place ive ever been for rabbit hands down. Lots of cover on most years, lots of rabbits. super runs. ive never had a problem down there with either another person or anything else. Now if you have deer runners then watch out!! lots of deer. anyway my thoughts. jon c.

jeff there are some things people dont need to know about. my shooting is one of em lol. glendale is a decent place to hunt. its not like private land but its good enough for me since i only have one private spot to hunt and you can only hunt it so many times a year........keith
