Kennel questions

Post by coolbrze »

I'm building 3 chain link kennels. I figure approx. 8'x10' each. Is 6' the recommended height? Finally, what gauge chain link should I use. Any other pointers are greatly appreciated!

What I'm gona do is lay up a two block high form, paint a sealer on it, and then put 4' chainlink or hog pannels on top of it. These males pee'n and rust'in these pipes out, is gona come to an end.
Over in England, you never see a kennel without 2' high stone or brick around the bottom, and then, the wrought-iron work around the top.
I got a picture of one with brick, if you'd like to see it...Patch

ps. as far as the guage, get as heavy as you can get, will last longer and you can paint it with aluminum roof coat and a roller... ;)

I would definitely recommend 9 gauge for the fence. If it’s covered 4' or 6' shouldn't matter. I would recommend 6' though. How many dogs per run do you plan on? Do you plan on putting the runs on concrete?

Not sure if I'm going to cover it. I think I will, but haven't totally decided. This will be for no more than 2 dogs/kennel so there shouldn't be a prob. w/ space. I don't think I'm going to put them on concrete though.

Patch what floor surface do they use in those English kennels? Cleanup? Odor control? Do they feed them all together?

Patch, I installed a post in the center of my males pen and peeing on the fence stopped.
