I have been told that once a flea/tick collar gets wet, they are useless. Maybe these are different.

I just had a dog (Golden) come in about a week ago for boarding. He had a flea and tick collar on. I found one very full tick a few inches away on the ear and another on the neck. His owner said he'd been wearing the collar for a few weeks. Both were full and alive if that helps any. I highly recommend Frontline plus.

If you are going to the vet ask them about a pill for fleas and ticks. I get them off my vet here. The pill cost 2 bucks for a dog or cat weighing from 2 pound to 25 pound, which most my beagles are. The 25lb to 50 lb pill cost 4 bucks each. The will kill the flease and ticks on your dog or cat within 30 minutes and keep them off for a week. So for 8 bucks a month I dont worry about the flea or tick problem. So if u got 10 dogs that would cost about 80 bucks a month. I also use the 7 dust 10% in the kennel and brush it on the dogs.

I have used preventic for the last 4 years, they are water resistant, and they work very well. They are good for 3 months, but if left after the 3 months you will see ticks. I have actually watched the ticks jump off the dog. They will crawl on the dog, however they will not latch on and feed. They cost more at the Vets office then they do to order online. They DO NOT work for fleas, only ticks. I am in NJ and we have an unbelievable amount of ticks here, even during the winter when we have mild weather. I WILL not run my dogs without these collars. I did not like Frontline at all.
