Sorry to hijack your post but I have a quick snake story about me from last week, first time it ever happened and I hope the last. Hope you find some humor in it.

I hate all snakes but I have been watching crocidile hunter for a few years and he makes it look so easy picking a snake up.......well last week I was on a job and a lady came running up saying that a big snake was coming our way, the homeowner said it was just an "old water snake" and that if I wanted I could take it and throw in the pond about 200 yards away, he didnt want it to get in his house. Although I have never seen a water snake that was 6-7' long, I decided to try catching it like one of them Austrailian snake charmers(not my smartest move)....I grabbed a stick and pinned his head to the ground, the homeowner was a 90 year old man and he is saying "be careful"..."be careful".......I said " I got him" and grabbed him behind his head and about that time that SOB somehow snapped around and clamped down on my thumb and proceeded to wrap itself around my arm. Now here I am with a big BLACK SNAKE clamped onto my thumb and wrapped around my arm, Shannon screaming that "HE IS BITING YOU"(like I didnt know).............and the homeowner screaming "KILL HIM" (like I wasnt trying to). The last thing I wanted to do was let go of his head because I knew he would start biting me all over so I took my other hand while this snake is clamped on my thumb and reached over and grabbed that snake like a rope and slammed him to the ground, he hit the ground striking at me and blood was pouring down my arm from my thumb! By then the homeowner had a shovel and I took care of that snake. I was simply amazed at the bite a snake has!! Thank God it wasnt a poisnous snake. I will never play with snakes again.

xdawg, you seem skeptical on all pictures of big snakes, do you not have BIG snakes where you live?? IF not I may consider moving where you are. I doubt that the camera angle would make that snake look even a tenth bigger than what it is according to the looks of everything else in the picture. Over the years I have personally seen several snakes as big as the Rattler shown on here a while back and I promise that when I saw them I was the first in the crowd to get back to the truck,but I bet it would have been a close race between myself and you if you'd been here.Snakes do grow as big as these LOOK in the pictures. I am sure glad we no longer have many cottonmouth snakes in my area but we do have more than our share of Rattlers.
