Also, it helps to let one go (choose one you really do not like anyhow) every now and then saying you are "cutting back" just to throw your spouse off balance! Then you can always add a pup later to replace the one you culled. I am not sure whether the reaction to a new beagle is MUCH calmer than it used to be or whether I take the lecture better now - LOL!
:D I have done this in the past year.....it really works!!!! :D

The best divorce story over dogs has to belong to a good buddy of mine. I won't mention any names, but he use to be on this site until she took the computer in the divorce. His wife hated, I mean HATED dogs.

The last draw....

He spent the summer building new kennels and a new kennel building for his hounds. One evening he was out too late running dogs. He pulled in, unloaded the dogs and was returning to his jeep. She jumped in and drove through his new kennels, backed up and drove through again...He had to hold her on the ground till the sheriff hauled her away. Neadless to say the marrige counseling didn't help....

I have been married just like Hillbilly, 28 years and I had my dogs before I had my wife. We came up with a good agreement long ago that pleases both of us: She loves to camp and I love to run dogs, when I go to a trial or to run dogs I just hook up the fifthwheel and take her to the nearest campground and work my dogs out of there. It has worked perfect!!! dboman
Let's go run them!!!

I can only see a couple of reasons on how the dogs could cause trouble in your marriage. Either you don't set aside money for the dogs and just buy dogs spontaneously with the bill money putting your family's security at risk, OR you put ALL of your effort into the dogs and none into the marriage (as in run dogs every min of your spare time and make no time for her).
If yall don't want the ladies complaining about your dogs GIVE a little TIME to her!!!! You may really want to be running dogs at the moment but don't even let her think the dogs are on your mind. If money isn't an issue but she is PO'd about the cost of the new kennel or rabbit pen or dog SEND her on a trip some place nice with her girlfriend or better yet TAKE her YOURSELF! If money IS an issue, save save save for what you want and let her know you are saving money for your stuff and money for something special for her too! Don't use the darn bill money! LOL
I know some ladies you can't please no matter what you do but remember there are men out there the SAME WAY! You have to give to receive.
Don't squat with your spurs on!

Wife #1: 9 years, lost all dogs, Harley Davidson, 1/2 of 401K, and my a$$ in divorce.

Wife #2: 8 years and going strong. Asked her on Valentines Day what she wanted to do? She said, "Well, of course, run dogs." She is my type of woman. She now has more dogs than I do, and if you ask her, her's are better!!

Suggestion: Just gotta find the right one!! And I did this time!!

The only reason I keep the one I have now is she'd take me to court for custody of the dogs and stick me with the kids...lol

Just do like me........ IF I want a dog I go get it. Wife told me one time that she wished I didn't have those dogs.... I told her those dogs would be here after she was gone. She hasn't said one thing about those dogs except when there barking then its SHUT UP!! lol

I gots a good wife that lets me do what I want when I want all I have to do is give her my paycheck on Fri. lol Honestly though I spoil her when were together so the time apart for me running dogs is good medicine for when we are together.
