YES, IT IS TERRIBLE THIS HAPPENED. BUT, PLEASE TELL ME WHY A CONSERVATION OFFICER WOULD MAKE A ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP ON A BUSY EXPRESSWAY AND THEN ENTER INTO A HIGH SPEED CHASE? IF YOU ASK ME, HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SITUATION!
THE NEWSPAPER STATED THE CULPRIT HIT THE OFFICERS TRUCK ON THE BACK CORNER CAUSING HIM TO FLIP......HOW DID THE OFFICER GET IN FRONT OF HIM? JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME.

Tid bit of Info
All,
A little known fact to most people. At least in Indiana it is the case, a DNR officer is the highest ranking peace officer in the state, this is above State Troopers, County Sheriff Deputies and City policemen. The conservation officer not only has arrest rights in the woods/water but also on the highways. Most people don't realize this and think that DNR is only for the woods and waters but this is not true. What is true is that "most" of the time you do not see them making traffic stops or any other kind of non-hunting type calls, but they can arrest someone as easy as any other police officer. Usually when one of them makes a traffic stop, the person that they stopped did something either really stupid or really dangerous (or both).
Too bad this happened. My father was a policeman for 34 plus years before his death of a heart attack and I too served the law for 8 plus years so I know this is true. Just a tid bit of info for all!!

And to think that the public out here in Idaho almost had 50% in favor of letting the guy out of jail that is serving a life sentence for shooting and killing two Fish and Game officers serving him a warrant for illegal hunting and trapping. He was on the loose for 7 years before the law caught up to him. He was on America's Most Wanted and I even saw a documentary on PBS about him before I moved out here...

Lance, we (including you unless you were there) may never know why this happened or what may have occurred during the traffic stop, unless the Wildlife Officer was wearing a microphone recorder and his cruiser was eqiupped with video/audio recording equipment.Lance wrote:YES, IT IS TERRIBLE THIS HAPPENED. How do we know the Officer was not confronted with an armed subject in the vehicle he stopped....or held a knife to a child ordering the Officer to back away....or who knows what!!!!! Certainly not us!! To say he never should have been in that situation is a rediclious statement. If you had been a hostage in that car (hypothetically speaking), would it have seemed an unnecessary stop to you?

Same her in Alabama. From what I know, they can arrest you for anything. We had an officer shoot and kill a man after a traffic stop close to here. THe man run from him and proceeded to act like he was getting weapon out of is car. BAM, one less irresponsible idiot on the road and streets as far as I am concerned. They convicted the poor officer but of course the trial turned into a race deal and he was made out to be racist. Otherwise, he walks.

DNR OFFICER KILLED
IN OUR PART OF INDIANA A DNA OFFICER IS TOP DOG. WE HAD ONE STOPPING PEOPLE FOR UNREADABLE LICENSE PLATES ON THE BACK OF THE CAR. WE HAVE MORE GRAVEL ROADS IN SWITZERLAND COUNTY THAN MOST PLACES & THE LICENSE GOT DIRTY , BUT HE GAVE EVERYONE HE STOPPED A TICKET. BUT IF WE WASN'T THERE WE CAN ONLY GUESS WHAT HAPPENED. PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY.

Nowhere in the story did they mention why the officer had the man stopped , it could have had something to do with wildlife,(not that it matters though). Also you must have gotten more from the link than I did because I didn't read anything about officer Bryant's vehicle being hit from behind??? Your response to the story is very revealing as to how you see law enforcement officers. By the way there are no routine stop, they all are dangerous.
I am sorry a life was taken for any reason and a persons life cut short.if it was cut short??I believe in predestination and what will be will be and it is written as so-i do not have all the answers nor does any one,but things happen for a purpose/reason and we at times need to research and attempt to understand why.Now as for DNR/Game and Fish=Ga has the worse that i know of in any State and to say they suck would be a compliment and i have "NO" respect for them in any shape-form nor fashion and than on the other hand-Alabama Fish and Game has been very respectfull and extra nice to us here and we are transplants from Ga-it may be just the area we live in but the Game and Fish here are A number 1=====

You know what, I had written out a big reply to what you people are saying, but I decided not to stir up this hornets nest anymore. Look here, I
do respect the law. The stuff I said is just what I read. I'm just looking at this from both sides. Just because he was a man of the law doesn't automatically make his actions justified. And yeah...the officers truck was struck on the back corner causing him to flip. Read it in black and white in the KentuckyEnquirer. Funny that everyone I talk to such a neighbors and co-workers seem to agree with me! We all live right here in Northern Kentucky where this happened. Imagine that. If some people are so narrow minded not to look at it from a different perspective.....well I guess that's just too damned bad. I'll not waste any more time on this subject. Thank you.............

Lance,
Sounds like you've got a grudge against any type of officer. I'll almost bet money on it that you've been stopped quite a few times or even feel like you've been singled out. Everybody has a job to do and he was just doing his the best he knew how.

Lance, I didnt mean for my post to sound as if I was hacking on you, but to make assumptions without knowing the details and say the Officer should have never been in that situation was..well, redicilous, for lack of a better word. I apologize if I offended you. I did not mean to.

Pre-Destination==is like walking through a door and you turn around and see the sign above the door that says "Welcome Home" someone knew you were destined to walk through that door.
I have a nephew that reconstructs accidents for law enforcement and attorneys, and he is very good at it,he has his own private business, may be that this case needs to be reconstructed to really know what actually happened,so in the event anyone needs this type service now or in the future i can supply the information.Have a great day and run some hounds.
