Use of E Collars in the Forest

Post by Caribou »

How effective are E Collars in the forest? How far is the distance reduced? We are considering purchasing three collars for our three Beagles to use while riding horseback in the forest.

I would think that the range would be reduced a little, but hills are your biggest concern. My rule of thumb is that if I can't see the dog, I have no business shocking it. You could have it turned and heading back to you and it isn't barking, then hit it again and the dog gets all confused and doesn't know what you want it to do. Then it gets shocked for all the worng reasons...

Just my opinion.
