Rule Change
This is a question for everone, This isent to get everone into with each other just a ideal...There are people that hunt big dogs from time to time...i Think it would be a really good ideal for Nkc to make a rule That If you have a dog that is over and no one Has a Prouble with it the first round, i dont think that the dog should be able to be measured anymore durring the hunt. ......

I think the best rule suggestion on measuring I have heard is measure every dog in the final cast. Eventually it will eliminate the bigger dogs from even being brought to a hunt. It's not fair to a handler to have to run against an oversized hound because all the handlers in the first cast were able to overlook a rule infraction. Remember, it says specifically in the rule book, no hounds measuring over 15". I know the situation and some of what happened in the semi-finals at the world, but what was done was again perfectly within the rulebook. 15" is the rule, sorry but I don't see what would be gained by not being able to measure a dog after the first round.

I think anyone that has a dog measured does not have enough faith in there own hounds. When you got to nit pick the rules and look for advantages in the rules rather than let the dogs decide you dont have much of a dog anyhow.

I don't care either way, but I would think the guy with the bigger dog would be the one nit picking the rules looking for an advantage. I don't have anything over 15'' but have ran with several dogs that would push 16.5 easy. I don't think Raising the height limit would help any because the dogs would just keep getting bigger and bigger. Why not loose the limit all together?

boys i know exactly what you are talking about that happened......her is my 2 cents...rules should be rules .....but at the same time they arent their to use to your advantage ...by that i mean dont use them when they benefit you and bend them when they dont...i also agree that an inch should not matter let the hounds roll and the best one win...measure them the first time right and this wont be a problem....again just my opinion....thanks

Mason beagles, if I show up with the 18" fast beagle my friend has are you ok with that. Trust me you dont have anything that will keep up.
You have to draw the line, and it was drawn at 15"....if more guys had some intregrity and wouldnt bring their "full 15's" as they call them, it would never be an issue......

i rarely trial but always wandered why akc will register a 16" beagle but wont let them compete if they are over 15". that dont make sense to me. as for changing the rules... i dont think it would ever happen but i dont know what the big deal would be. in arha you got full 15" running with 13" (or under) anyhow and it isnt a problem. but you got to have rules and follow them, so i guess if you want to compete then you got to live with the rules.

well like i said when i posted this i wasent talkin bout anyone,,and i wasent talkin bout the semi-finals at the world...But i give you my 2 cents worth the guy that had that done is Chicken SH*T for doing that, and i think that most people know that...and yes the Guy did not do anything Wrong, a rule is a rule...i just think that if a hound makes in with out anyone have a proublem with its size it should not be able to be measured the rest of the hunt...

mybeagles I just like to see good dogs. Big Small dont matter. I promise you if I went up to the stake and your buddies dog was there I would not say a word. Especially running at an hour at a time. I feel my dogs would get more than there share of it and if they dont I have no problem getting beat I just like to see them hounds get after it.

measureing
measure them all before they enter. UKC has done this from day one and it works for them. Dogs that or measured in at the beganing of the hunt or measured for that day only.
The view is all ways the same from behind.
