It??? did'nt have genitals
Went to run a new pup that I just got from newcountry via Bigdog thanks again Bigdog. I also had my Burr oak tater dog with me. Rabbits are pretty scarce in the 1000 acre running grounds where I only use for running now I think I know why. Tater jumped a rabbit and the pup went to her and they ran the rabbit about 100 yrds. it doubled back a ways and sat down. The dogs were quiet for a minute or two then opened like they were looking at it then it was quite again . Well I thought that one must have went in a hole. A few minutes went by and here comes tater with the rabbit and drops it at my feet . I sure hate to lose rabbits in here not to mention possibly a doe heavy with young so I pick it up and try to sex it and there is nothing their . I look and look nothing . I have raised rabbits before and do know where and how to look but there was not a thing there. This was a small rabbit for this time of year . Well I gave it a shave because I could'nt beleive what I was'nt seeing . There sure is something funny going on in this briar patch. Newcountry the pup is just what you said I'm going to call you latter and let you know how she is doing Thank's Alen

When you say, "gave it a shave", do you mean you skin't it out?
Rabbits will neuter each other, this usually means there are many in close quarters. Bucks will fight and go after the jewels of the other when in combat, by kicking or nipping with the teeth. Buck rabbits have the ability to draw the jewels up into the body cavity at will also.
Did you know hounds will neuter another also?
I've only ever seen it one time. A young hound was after an old bitch and she was getting her fill of his pestering. I thought, she'll straighten him out shortly. The next day when I went out to do kennels, I noticed a white grisly object in the next kennel while cleaning and wondered, what it was and why hounds hadn't eatten it. When I went to do the adjoining kennel that held the old bitch and the young hound, the young hound stayed laying on the bed. I called him over to me and saw right off, he wasn't feeling or walking to well. The old bitch had literally taken any notion of love right out of the boy for ever more...

S.R.Patch I shaved the fur all the way to the rectom and there was'nt anything to check . I wish I had opened it up and looked it over closer but I was starting some pups and I let them play with it and it was pretty tore up. Bigdog thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm pretty sure I got Dons ph# from a post from Newcountry . I guess he was posting it for Don. My pup seems to be a little tite mouthed. But I really have'nt ran her enough to be sure . I'm waiting for some rain to solo her really dry here right now. She hunts really well for her size. She got down on her belly and crawled under some very low and thick stuff with my older dog.

fair chase,
Are your knotheads pure? I've crossed mine since 90' starting with a buck and 2 does. I've gotten some albinos(pink eyes) last couple of years and looked for outcross. I got a "scooter", fellow called him a bluefoot from down south but when bred, I got blaze face and white collars on necks. Put him and the young in the crock pot.
How long have you had/bred your?
Thanks...Patch

This is one heck of an interesting thread. On that rabitt...you said you shaved it to the rectum so I am assuming
it had one of those.....did it have a urethra to pee??? Maybe it was a male with it's testes retracted?
About the old bitch and the young dog.... That is AMAZING and horrible and shocking and sad and funny all at the same time!
I do have some days too when I feel a little like her...LOL.

What I am trying to tell you is there was not even a urethra much less genitals.I keep my pocket knife razor sharpe but I still had to pull some of the fur with my fingers . This rabbit was very small and did'nt look healthy . It also had warts around the base of its ears. I have rabbit hunted for 35 + years and have raised hundreds of rabbits in my time but I have never seen anything like this one .

S.R. Patch, this is my second year breeding this cross, all of the babies last year looked just like wild rabbits , I bought another male about a month ago to get some different blood and one of my females was pulling her hair out yesterday making a nest so it will be soon. I seem to have a good blood line started, time will only tell.
