Dog Falls Onto Car, Killing Driver
POSTED: 4:24 pm EST January 19, 2006
UPDATED: 4:55 pm EST January 19, 2006
LIVONIA, Mich. -- An 81-year-old man has died following a bizarre weekend accident in which a dog fell onto his car on a Michigan interstate.
Charles George Jetchick, of Livonia, was driving in a 1994 Ford Thunderbird in suburban Detroit Saturday, when, according to Michigan State Police, a large dog fell from the overpass and went through the car's windshield. Police said Jetchick was able to steer his car to safety, despite his injuries.
Jetchick and his passenger were transported to St. Mary's Hospital, where Jetchick died on Wednesday, police said. The passenger in the car suffered minor injuries, but doesn't remember anything other than the dog crashing through the window.
The dog, a 60- to 70-pound black Labrador retriever, died at the scene, after falling about 16 feet. Police believe the dog probably fell off the overpass by accident while trying to avoid a car.

I believe it. A dog that big would kill you for sure if it came through your windshield. As for it falling I don't know ... most overpasses in Detroit are fenced. It is not unusal however for animals to be chunked over the fences onto the overpass below by heartless scumbags.

Near Lansing, Michigan a deer reportedly jumped off an overpass. I don't think it landed on a car. But when you've deer falling from the sky, it's time to increase the number of doe permits! Or maybe Santa lost one of his team!!

There was a teenager a few years ago that dropped a 10# rock from an overpass on a car and it killed the lady driving. 10# at 65 mph drove her and the front seat right into the back seat of the car. They arrested the young man but he never stood trial.. He was electricuted working a summer job before his trial.
