Maxximum Nutrition
I picked up a bag of the Lamb and Rice 26/18 (I think) feed at Wally World the other day....A little on the expensive side of $23/$24 for 40# but the ingredients looked worth it and my regular feed store was closed so I had to get something. The recommended feeding levels were less than the current feed so I thought that might even out the price a little.
I have now fed it for almost a week and I am shocked at the little amount of waste in the kennels. Since this I have been doing some reading on this feed and they claim that it is 80% digestable??? I assume that this means they use 80% and the other 20% is in the form of waste....Which I can believe after going a week without a major spraydown in the kennels.
Just had to share that I was truely shocked at the difference in the amount of waste with this food compared to others that I have tried. It is too early to tell about performance levels but the dogs look good and they seem to have as much if not more energy than before feeding it.
Is anyone else using this feed? If so are you having the same results?
I'm curious because it is really too early to tell if this is a food I will stick with but I like what I'm seeing so far.

Maxium
We feed Maxium Nutrition Chicken when Pet smart doesn't have Pro Plan on sale. Sam's also sells a really good feed that is whole Chicken as the number one ingredient.
We give two cups in the winter and 1` 1/2 cups in the summer.
Very little waste on all 3 of the feeds. The only difference we have noticed
is that there coats are alto better on Pro Plan.

The waste in dog food is usually from the large amount of grain filler. The grain passes through the dog without providing much in the way of nutrition but make mountains of poop. The better quality feeds make the proteins more digestible and use less grain therefore less output. The dog absorbs the nutrients through the gut, compact it and poop out what is left. I feed raw to my dogs and they have very little waste. They get no grain and most of the waste is undigested vegetable and some bone. The boarders that come and are on cheap dog food eat a large volume and poop out even more. The smell is worse and the consistency makes for harder clean up than the raw fed dogs produce. Can't comment on Walmart- they sell a number of brands. You would need to check on who the manufacturer is. Should be a number you could call to ask some questions on the bag. Old saying... garbage in, garbage out. Carolyn

Not speaking for Keith, but most dogs that have "allergies" to food show the following symptoms, but these could also be environmental allergies as well.
Itching, paw chewing/licking, diarrhea, reddening around the eyes or belly/innerthighs, tail biting, patchy hair loss, etc.
Chicken can cause allergies in many dogs, as can, beef, soy, and wheat.

I have a 5 month old pup that has had a very runny stool, almost looks like melted ice cream if you can imagine that. He looks good everywhere else, it has been like this for 5 or 6 days. I wormed him and the day after it looked better, now it is right back the way it was. I am using the 30-20 brand. All the other dogs look fine.

Also try the Exceed pink bag from Sams, LAMB & RICE. Better results and a bit cheaper $18.00-$20.00 depending on location. Stamina will be good with either. I've used the Exceed for 4 years and the MN only when I dont have time to get to Sams. More poop with MN but still less than most I've tried. I've never used over 1 bag at a time of the MN so really can't say on long term use. The wife told me last night to go to Sams today she was tired of picking up double the poop this week with the MN. LOL

it happened over nite. i fed her one nite and she just wolfed her food down. i mean if my hand woulda been in front of her she would have taken that too. then the next day i went out and fed her and she just sniffed it and walked back to her house. i knew something was wrong because this dog loves to eat. she would eat it all but it took the whole night. she would just pick at her food. i also noticed that she was chewing on her back feet. she had diarhea and she also chewed her tail. just like bunny runner saidPaul Curtis wrote:Keith, what symptoms did your female show that was allergic?
