judging at the little world
I'm hoping not to come off as to be putting down the people who are fair and honest judges. I was at the little world hunt htis past weekend. I hear a few complaints about the bench show and a couple of people who judged in the field. I don't get into the bench chow so I personally wasn't a witness to how it was judge. But I heard from quite a few people who had dogs on the bench that the judge never even look at the dogs overbite. Some people were still stacking their dogs and the judge had already picked the winner before they were finisded standing their dog. I do believe that the bench show should be quick but in all fairness to everyone maybe the judge should take time to look at each dog a little closer before picking the winners. Then I also heard a few comments about a ouple of field judges who never broke out of a walk and try and stay up with the pack of hounds running the rabbit. I beleive 99.9% on the judges give 100% or more when judging but to the few who don't make an effort to stay with the dogs they a cheating the dogs in the cast by not don't their best. And if this is the way these judges judge a cast all the time then maybe they should look at themselves and maybe not judge. Again I am not trying to down grade any judges , but am just passing on want was brought to my attention at the little world hunt. Thanks for all you do judges Chuck
judging at the little world
chuck You are right the little world was the biggest JOKE I ever seen as far as little pack hunts go. The grand champion bench was unreal the judge never even touched a dog and picked a winner in about 30 seconds. There is no way to pick a winner without looking at bite, eyes, muzzel, tail etc. that make up a true bench show. As you said 99.9% of the judges give 110% and I thank them for that. I was one of the people in a cast where the judge did not make any effort to keep up with the dogs. ( never broke from a walk ) The hunt itself was in my opinion very unorganized and time consuming and could have been run much better.
I've heard the same thing from several folks that went. I guess many people left before they even ran their hounds. They only have 15-17 spots to run and went back over and over again for 2 days. I havn't taked to one person that went(unless they placed) that didn't complain. I guess this wasn't the LW that everyone was use to.
