Its truly an exciting moment to get a puppy started!!

Post by Casey Harner »

Been taking my newest young pup out with my older male, letting him run behind the older dog... he has harked in, but I think it has been out of excitement. Today I was heading over to the kennels to feed the two dogs. I looked to my left near the woods and seen two cotton tails. We have had tons of rain dumped on us, so the scenting should be good. I got the pup, let him go and he ran over to where the rabbits were, got onto the scent and went into the woods. The race was on! He came very close to making a full circle. He really pushed the rabbit for the first time on a rabbit. Ran it real nice and smooth... Hopefully a video will come next of him running!!!

Glad to hear he started for you Casey, sounds like he is on his way.
I was out at the kennels when you were calling, man I was tired as
hell. I just beat the tornado's getting out of Indiana. I hope he turns
out to be a good one for you.

How old is it? You are right, it doesnt get much better than that. There is nothing quiet like it. It is one of my favorite things to hear and see.

Casey as much as you love your dogs and the time you put in he will be a fine hound just put the time in and reap the benifits of a nice hound.

I agree it makes you want to jump up and down. I have two 6 month old pups that i have been working with. They ran the first rabbit the every saw at 4 months and at 6 they are jumping and running there own. I have never had pups do this good. Good luck to you and your pups.
