Re: cattle tags
I have used the purple python tags for the last three years and have had no tick problems. I have found a tick on them from time to time but it has always been dead. I change mine every three months. They keep the ticks off my dogs but not the fleas although they do seem to have less fleas on them.

I have the tool that you use to put the tags in cattle's ear with and what I do is fold the tag over to make a loop and clamp them together using the tag tool and with the loop in them I just slid them over the collar, works good for me. I have been told that they are good for 6 months when on cattle but I change mine every 3 months.

Re: cattle tags
Hey Al! I have been using them for a few years now and I am having great results. I have 3 yr olds that have never had a tick attached....change them twice a year.

Re: cattle tags
I have used them.bought a new 20pack this spring.
i guess its.a.matter of what the tick population is in your area.
i use them.frontline.spray them down with permethrin before turning loose in field and still will have.them on dog.
nothing is foolproof and a thorough going over after the hunt always reveals some.
