Door to Door vrs Interstate to Interstate Hauling

Post by Cajun Pet Express »

I guess everyone knows that I am not the classic door to door transporter. The competition loves to make that point. But what people don't realize is that there is a significant backlash to door to door, let me explain:

Door to Door eats a tremendous amount of transport time up. Some people live two to three hours from the closest interstate exit. That means the transporter has to drive two hours and turn around and drive another two hours to get back to the original position. Also most people work for a living and cannot be home to make a delivery. Some areas are remote and difficult to get to and do not have cell service. If a transporter gets lost then they have to backtrack to the nearest town to get cell coverage.

Most of my customers are more concerned about how long will it take to get the dog picked up and delivered than door to door. If we went door to door on every pick up and delivery then that process would add one day to every three days we are on the road. That means your dog will get delivered a lot slower. Diesel has gone up $1.00 in the last 12 months. Our rates have not gone up. In order to remain competitive we ask customers, in most cases, to meet us at an interstate or major 4 lane highway exit closest to their house or work.
