Sportdog 1825
Has anyone purchased the new Sportdog 1825? I have the Sportdog 2500 and it has worked flawlessly. I have small dogs (12") The only thing I don't like about the 2500 is the size of the receivers. If I had bigger dogs it wouldn't be an issue. I thought of getting a Tritronics G3 but once again I am seeing a lot of negative post about problems with the TT units.

Re: Sportdog 1825
I have one and havent had a problem yet.The collars are small and has good range, luckily I dont have to use it much.I bought mine back in December. It is a 3 dog system.I hunt 12 to 14 inch dogs.
Re: Sportdog 1825
I've talked to more people who've had trouble with sportdogs than tri-tionics. I had a Sportdog 2500 and a Sportdog 3200. The 3200 was a pretty good unit, but Tri-Tronics are the top of the line. There will be problems from time to time with any unit, but the customer service with Tri-Tronics is far superior to Sportdog. Try calling or e-mailing Sportdog, if you get ahold of someone, they'll degrade YOU. I sold both my Sportdog units after about 3 weeks of just trying to get ahold of anyone at Sportdog. When I finally got to talk to someone, by e-mail, they pretty much chewed me out for having a problem with one of their units. Very rude, very unprofessional, and took 3 weeks just to get a response (not one answered phone call).
Sold both units, bought a G3, love it.
By the way, the Tri-Tronics Trashbreaker has about twice the range of the Sportdog 3200 (both 2 mile units) and the tracer lights are pretty slick at night.

I would say that the reason you are hearing SOME negative comments on Tri Tronics is because they sell twenty times more sets then any other company. At that rate, you will have some issues plus with that many units out there, some folks don't know exactly what there doing. JMOhogbody wrote:Has anyone purchased the new Sportdog 1825? Get what you want or can afford, but you won't top TT in the long run.

Re: Sportdog 1825
hogbody, the big thing on the 1825 is you can not use the other sportdog collars on it. You have to buy the collars especially for the 1825. Whereas on the other models, the collars are interchangeable.

You make a good point about more people owning Tritronics, guess that does have something to do with it. I have had no problems at all with my Sportdog 2500. Just wish the receivers and transmitter were smallerhounddog wrote:I would say that the reason you are hearing SOME negative comments on Tri Tronics is because they sell twenty times more sets then any other company. Re: Sportdog 1825
I had never had any of that happen, I only needed service twice in the last 3 years, both were battery issues. I called and always got an answer. I just called now to put your comment to the test and got an answer. I have never heard anyone else make those claims either. Both times I had new batteries within 48 hours!!!!!hookset wrote:I've talked to more people who've had trouble with sportdogs than tri-tionics. I had a Sportdog 2500 and a Sportdog 3200. Re: Sportdog 1825
I just checked to see if the e-mail I received from them was still in my inbox, but it's been deleted. I think you would have liked it. Sarcastic and degrading all rolled into one. When I bought my first sportdog unit (the 3200), I was proud of it and the first person I showed it to told me that I'd love it until I had to have it worked on. I was agravated at him because I was proud of my little unit. I never had to work on it or the collars, but I did with a brand new 2500 unit. As I went through the process, all the horror stories everyone had told me about Sportdog came true. Won't happen again. Good luck with yours.I had never had any of that happen, I only needed service twice in the last 3 years, both were battery issues. I called and always got an answer.
