Ear problems

Post by coolbrze »

Not inner ear, but on the outside. Happened last week, seems to slowly be getting better, not sure if it was briars or something else, any ideas?

looks like to me either mites, or dew poisoning... What have you tried on the ears, my guess would be by the looks of it mites, is the inside of the ear kinda dirty looking? does your dog shake his head any? does he seem to be scratching the ear? signs of ear mites... cure squirt of WD-40

Dew poinsoning is similar but can be healed up quickly with 3 in one oinment such as neosporin...

TC ain't lying about the WD-40. I have used it on 2 different dogs and it cleaned them right up. I kind of got smart on the second one though, the first one didn't like it when I shot the stuff in his ear. So, I squirted it into a syringe and then put it in the ear with the syringe. Not so loud and the dog tolerated it much better. I can imagine how loud that must sound when you stick a tube down the ear canal and then blast from an aerisol can...

Anyway, it cleans up mites.

I had something similar and used Nustock.

Cleared it right up.

50/50 Clorox/water in a spray bottle. Wet the ear down once a day till it clears up. Don't get it in your dog's eyes.

Don't think it's mites, tried the WD-40 and Betadine. Got Nustock on the way. I'll post back and let you know what happens. I was also told it was dew poisoning by a couple buddies of mine.
