When will she go into heat?

Hi guys, I have a rookie dad question. My pup is going on five months now and I am wondering when she will have her first heat cycle. I was told around six months of age.

Also I have read that if I was to wait till after she has gone into heat for the first time to get her fixed it'll increase the risk of her developing cancer down the road, any truth to this or is it a ploy to have people get ther pets fixed?

My beagle pup come in heat for the first time a few days
ago at 8 mos . Someone else will have to answer the other question .
I'm sure their heat cycles do vary from one dog to another .

There's no rule, but a good guide is anywhere from 6 mo. to 12 mo. old for their 1st heat cycle.

Between 6-8 months old. Mine was 8 mos right on following that it should be every 6 months.
