We usually rinse well with saline solution and then put a little Genticin(sp), eye ointment, in their eyes when we kennel them after hard running, especially in serecea or soybeans. Nothing will stop all problems but this helps.

I just make sure I take a good look at their eyes, take out any seeds and such, then heavily rinse them out with saline solution and it seems to do me fine. Haven't had any issues since I started doing this.

If the eyes don't get better after a good rinse and ointment, you want to make sure that they don't have a seed etc... trapped under their inner eye lid. If they do, it will irritate and possibly scratch the eye every time they blink. If they do, it will need to be removed by a vet with the dog being out as they need to lift the inner eyelid with tweezers and flush out the seed. I've also had good luck using Terramycin with goopy eye's etc... or when needed as an eye ointment.
