Equimax ? Please help!

Post by Kelly »

I gave a pea size dose of Equimax to some bitches. The 2 smaller ones don't look good about 6 hours later. The little bigger one looks fine. Do I need to have them looked at? In the past I had used it with no problem. I'm throwing it away now .Please help!

This web site says Equimax is dangerous and can be fatal to dogs. Do you have a 24 hour vet you can call and talk to? I don't know anything more about the topic than what is available on the web.

Carolyn, I talked to my vet and she said she gives it to rescue dogs and the dosage I gave should be no problem. The active ingrediant is the same as droncit for tapes.I read up on it and it was supposed to be fine ,now I'm hearing otherwise. I gave it before at a larger dose, no problem. I have no idea that is the problem and I'm taking dogs in tommorow. Anyone else? Thanks!

I went to the vet. Dogs are fine, maybe just a little infection. Meds was not a problem. Beagles are not a breed overly sensitive to Ivermectin. Don't give to Sheltie types.Definatly use Ivermec with care but it's OK.Thanks all!
