A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)

Please stop blowing up every thread bragging about your dog. If this post offends you, you know how most readers feel when they are forced to wade through a bunch of blowing to read a post.

It seems that this entire board has turned into that lately........every post I read turns into exaclty this.........even stud ads are getting stolen!!

'Tis true, 'tis true. That's all I'm going to say.

I don't post a lot but I've been a member of this board for a long time. I used to enjoy reading it everyday but this stuff is getting OLD!! Maybe we need a special thread where we can all post what we like the most about our own dogs and then someone can come along and tell us how theirs is better. LOL
Hmmm....Aside from the chest thumping and reading through the bs, this thread kinda got me thinking.
I have one that has made it with me since I started back into beagles and I consider him a rabbit dog. However, he can have too much mouth, is hard headed, will randomly run off game, and does really stupid stuff every once and awhile. Having said that...he LIVES to run rabbits, nothing else matters to him, and has been that way since I bought him 7 years ago. You can see it in his eyes and it kills me to see him at a ripe old age of 12+ still wanting to go like a newly started pup.
So that leaves me questioning "What do I consider a rabbit dog?". Obviously since I think this dog is a "rabbit dog" then I do not use perfection as my guide.
So how shall I go about defining a hound as a rabbit dog?
I guess my best personal definition would be: A rabbit dog is one that I will shed tears over when he or she passes, the rest are beagles.
FC Green Bay Nemasket Singer
FWR Blue Boy's Lightfoot
Let me in on this bragfest, I got a beagle that could tear up a anvil and can eat more chow than any other beagle in the world bar none. HE HATES A RABBIT could he be a rabbit dog.

I have some hunters that comes to run there beagles in my pens and can run him at ease. But one thing I don t see thats its a rabbit dog. They have to show them a rabbit first. One thing I see in a rabbit dog.The dog has to show me a rabbit first.Don t care how good they can run one.

There ya go
Yep, and wouldn't we all trade a bunch of beagles for a rabbit hound.
