I usually have great success with my 870 12 ga. I do tend to mess up a little meat when the shots are close, but I can reach out and get them on the long shots. Just ask Swing. :)

Yes the 22/410 is a spartan., This gun in most cases comes with a sling. I do belive Winchester is only making the lever action 410 in a carbine only. They quit making the longer barrel one with the long magizine. Its a fun gun but to bad its only a 2 1/2 not a 3 inch

410 870, with 6 shot. I just read a article in a hunting mag., that said at 25 yards, with a mod. choke, a .410 has the same diameter pattern as a 12 ga., just not as many pellets.

If I go by myself, I typically carry a 22 rifle and am very careful w/ it. If I go w/ others, I carry a 22" Browning 12 gauge pump w/ low brass 6's. I hope to get a 28 guage sxs at some point for rabbit hunting.

Cornerstone, I killed my first rabbit, squirrel, and grouse with a model 37 .410. Also nearly shot my foot off once when I fell with it and the hammer hit a rock. They are wonderful guns but you need to remember that there is no safety device for the hammer, a good blow to it and it contacts the firing pin. They are great collector's items and match guns with the full choke. M dad has a 12 that won all the local turkey shoots at one time, the knd where the more shot in the card, the better chance of hitting the X. Best wishes to all!
