You are trying to breed up from the Brace style of running and I'll bet you want yours to hunt good too.
Keep one thing about breeding any thing, dog, horse, whatever: it is easier and much quicker to breed down than it is up.
That is what the brace beaglers did with the fast running, hard hunting, short coupled, healthy beagle and why it was accomplished in a short time.
I can breed a champion throughbred race horse to a jackass and in one generation have something totally different and call it a mule!!! See how long it would take to do that in reverse. LOL
Ok... c'mon guys........ REALLY??? It was that easy huh? They just threw a couple of beagles together and POOF!!...... Brace Beagling was born, is that it???I can make a strain of blind beagles in just a few short breedings and it wouldn't take a whole lot of figuring it out... It would just be stupid to do so... Unless my blind dogs could run rabbits better than seeing dogs i guess..

They're not thrown out the window ...... they're just not called beagles. They're called Terriers![]()
I've watched some of your videos. You appear fixated and fascinated by your hound that "went to ground" after the rabbit in that one clip, down by the stream.
And this whole bed jumping thing...... you're after a hot nosed dog with a boat load of hunt.
That's a terrier, dude
Beagles are hounds........ they're track dogs.
Someone needs to take you out for a dig with some good terriers, you'd love it I'm sure.
You'd probably dump all your hounds for terriers, so maybe better not![]()
It is easy to see you have no knowledge of the Traditional Brace Era. And no, you are mistaken. There were not always Registered “gun dogs” that you could find at the drop of a hat. At one time, it was a handful of breeders in the US and breeders from Canada that kept registered gun dogs alive. It was to the point that in the world of “gun hunters”, you were embarrassed to admit that you had a “registered” dog. Because it was known that if it was “registered” it most likely stood still and blew a hole in the ground and accomplished nothing with zero hunt. It took many many years for that reputation to get turned around, and many “gun hunters” still have this opinion concerning hunt.ohlinger wrote:3 questions 3 different people
Norwester..
Have you ever found a dog that actualy suits you ? You preach and preach and cry and cry about dogs noses...have you EVER actualy found one that you can show anyone that has the nose you speak of ?
MO Beagler 5000...
What makes you an expert on anything ? So far I've never read any post that is supported by any sort of facts yet you make it sound like anyting you say is written in stone
Dr.Chris
What are you talking about and trying to argue ? Brace beaglers did'nt almost ruin the hunting beagle if you did'nt want that style of dog then go buy one from the someone that had a hunting beagle b/c there HAS ALWAYS BEEN PLENTY EVEN 30 OR 40 YEARS AGO. the gun dog will never be absent from the beagle breed. I have never seen the need to bash any certain style that a person chooses to enjoy.
haha all 3 of you are completely ridiculous but at least you're making me laugh you're all typing these long winded posts that say absolutely nothing and are completely worthless to read, and I don't believe that any of you 3 have anything more figured out than any other guy reading this forum. Seems to me like you if you 3 could agree with each other you could prbly solve all the worlds problems right here on this board and create the perfect hunting beagle with you're master observations ever all knowing knowledge and professional breeding practices. The purpose between a half brother/ half sister cross is to lock in traits desired from the shared parent bottom line. I think that pretty much sums it up don't you ? No matter what is that your'e trying to lock in ? I'm sure there is a more knowledgeable, scientific and educational 4 paragraph post that each of you 3 can contribute to my post I'd love to read that as well...haha please humor me once more.
Well G.I. Joe, now whose writing the “long winded posts” and making people laugh…lol… as far as meeting up and having a “flop out”, these days that’s not my style. Lol… but considering in April I will be turning 73 and just entering my prime… I’ll give it some thought and get back to you.ohlinger wrote:hahahaha i just got back in from running my dogs for the 2nd time today LOL!! you guys are killing I would love to run a.k.c and am actualy seeking out getting to a judges seminar to begin my licensing process, but they don't have very many hunts i can find a ukc or arha hunt any weekend i choose, and I enjoy going to trials so why wait and have to drive so far just to have fun..You must be a big time feller in the a.k.c world, no worries if you'd like to see what i have or are interested in buying a nice dog one day be sure to look me up I like to think i've got a couple that do a nice job even though i don't write 4 paragraph posts on here about how much i know about how to breed to the perfect beagle, and no ur facts are incorrect on bracing I dont have to have to be old to open a history book. Beagler M.O LOL you are the man obviously!! i will never doubt you again you have proven me wrong, I only wish to to remember as much as you have forgotten one day. However Safeguard is crap bottomline. I will continue to use somthing for dogs that actualy works!! but hey thats another topic, and it's a dead horse b/c it does not matter to me what you do with you're dogs If i was you i'd just shoot them all and use that brain of urs for the betterment of man kind. haha I love it guys so glad we all share the same sport, and can argue over things soo stupid well i've gotta get up early to run dogs again i only got 7 hours of running in today...we are averaging about 25 hours a week right now. I think that is about the best way to learn actualy getting out and running the guts out of them, and traveling to see others dogs. Appearantly haveing 4 degrees in bullshit, and running a.k.c is the only way. or to live up north in sub zero conditions on a frozen tundra with no rabbits to run anyhow LOL. All in fun fellers have a great night.
f.y.i if u wanna have a flop out fellers after 8 years in the army and two tours to the middle east, and then being party of an army training team as a weapons instructor and i.e.d awareness, that trained over 7,000 national guardsman and reservist for deployment to iraq and afghanistan,my qualifications were combat action badge (rip off from infantry action badge I was not infantry), air assault, 5 army achievemnt medals 3 with oak leaf cluster, and i can go on but ok I'll stop being a cheese d**k b/c my army buddies would make fun of me for saying all this stuff lol. I just finished up my degree as a matter of fact but it's just an associates in applied science (electrical engineering program), currently going for my mechanical engineering associates, but being away from home and shot at and hit with i.e.d's I kind of realised I just wanted to come home and live a simple life and run some hounds, I reckin thats exactly what i'm doing! In response to ur insinuation of my age haha i'm 27 i can't help it if i'm still a good looking guy but thanks for the compliment! i hope i can look young at 40 as well!!! Have a great day DR. and the brilliant scientistnorwester LOL hope you can take a joke better than these two yayy who's!
