You need to find the person that is breeding the type of dogs you are looking for. I don't think most people would buy a pup from someone they don't care for.

That is kinda of like saying which is more important the breeder or the trainer,It's a very broad area generally a good breeder is a better trainer, because you have to know what a dog s doing ,before you can Know what it can add to a breeding program.

But ,in my opinion blood will away's come out If you ave a good solid line breeding program you will have more consistency in what ever style hound you are breeding, there has been many book's written (( I like Tom Dorin --Frank Reese ))about breeding and different idea's you can learn something from all of them pick what style hound you want stay devoted and just go for it ----One thing DON"T get caught up in the favor of the month Idea it don't last.

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered

REALLY, are you saying that this person can consistently take any ole dog from the pound and make a rabbit dog out of it? I've seen several that looked like a Hienz 57 variety that ran a rabbit pretty good but those have been few and far in between and in fact can be counted on one hand.

Yes,He can.I am going to tell you WHY.When rabbit hunting overwith. Some or alot of so call hunters takes there dogs after hunting season to the dogs pound.Alot of good dogs therre. One of the best dogs I ever seen run.Came from the dog pound.Put it this way.this guy been rabbit hunting now around 40 years.Know what to do to a dog.Now another guy just started in rabbit hunting and have some of the best breed pups you could ask for.1 year later.Who will you hunt with.Same thing in trials.A guy that been in it 40 years or one just started.
.Think about it.Some of the best train dogs out there, in alot of things, came from the dog pound.Really do you think that you have to have a high breed dogs to go rabbit hunting.
