Crogan is just a line of walker running dogs that were bread up with a lot of fight. They will not just run an bay a coyote they will catch it an kill it. A hell of a lot more fun than just calling it in an shooting it.

Where are the located at? Who breeds them seriously for that type of desire and grit. I would love to possibly invest in a finished hound that could run down a yote and kill it solo. I know it would not come cheap, but it would be worth it to see that in action!! thanks.

The dog on the throat in all the pictures is Croghan bred. You wont buy a dog that can catch and kill one solo. They arent for sale. You'll have better luck buying a pair together that can kill one just arent very many that can kill one solo. I've been around coyote dogs my whole life and only seen 3 or 4 that could do it. One of them is in my pics.

http://www.speeddogs.net/ I have posted this link before.Review the classified section click on hounds forsale. There are quite few guys that break their fox walkers with shock collars like you would beagles off deer. It's rare one dog can kill a yote my first wife step son"s Hammern Down Bitch last week bayed up a yote while they were deer hunting her.She will run one to you kill it or catch her off it.She has won deer trials fox and yote trials.Small tough fast gutty bitch. They could hear her in one place not moving much on the Garmin(necessity) so figured she bayed up.Sure enough they went in kaboomed the game vulcher.3 is ideal with one your dog might get cut up from bites. Yotes dont bother the beagles much where they run these big dogs alot. I heard Brandon Hill is into yote dogs now. Craig Kemler who had jam up beagles for years is now a yote dog man.I have two 4 month old female walker pups Out of FCH Tuscrora Marvin & that bad azz FCH Hammern Down bitch above. I know the breeders around here who have dogs once they get 3 sell them as from 1-3 yrs old they are their fastest. after 3 tad slower not enough octane for 3 day trials
but still jam up for pleasure hunting these yotes. These 3 yr old dogs to me are better for the wild as by now they have tad more patience trailing. They can be bought for as littleas $150 to 300-500 for a real jam up dog. I can hook you up with some good honest guys who want bs you if interested just pm. I would consider sellling my 2 pups as I want to buy an older FCH brood bitch to breed. The trgg walkers and july seem to fight more tham the english blooded ones. My mountain retreat is just about a tad over an hour from wv located in nw NC. http://www.udarrell.com/cruiser-walker- ... -stud.html

I have lost 3 beagles and 1 vizsla and probably one young German shorthaired pointer to coyotes. All the losses were during the Spring, probably while the coyotes had pups.

I started running German shorthaired pointers with beagles in areas where coyotes are bad, four or five years ago. Since I started running them together I have had no losses to coyotes and the coyotes leave the dogs alone after the first encounter.

The first shorthair pictured, Sliver, had a tear from his chin to the the end of his chest from coyotes, when I was running him solo. The skin was torn, but there was almost no muscle damage. The Vet left the wound open and it closed in about a month.

His younger full sister, Trooper, got almost the same wound from coyotes, but the wound was about 6 inches shorter.

The problem I have with the shorthairs is that unless I keep them close enough to me to catch, when the beagles start running a rabbit, they will try to catch the rabbits and sometimes they do.

The last dog pictured, Eli, belonged to some neighbors that lived .6 miles down the road until he decided he like it here better and they gave him to us. This year, I have been running him with the pups I am starting. He handles very well and I can call him back to me once the beagles jump a rabbit, though it is fun to watch him bound after them.
